this child is being punished because of administration's failure to do their jobs. If they would address the problem when it was first brought up this would not happen.

It is said that people can not depend on the school administratives to do their jobs. They are supposed to protect students and yet an honor student is getting punished. At Cordova High School, there is a gang called Jump Squad who is terrorizing students but THE GANG LEADER'S MOTHER WORKS FOR THE MEMPHIS POLICE DEPARTMENT SO HER child CANNOT BE ARRESTED. The nerve of this city.

This is a sad case. But when you put your hands on another child you have lowered yourself to the people that bullied you. Children do want to go to school and be safe but has anyone ever thought about the person she hit now may never feel safe again because of this young lady. If the student and the parents felt the school was not doing what they were supposed to do then the next step is the police. So before parents get on the news they should have made sure her hands were clean. No one wants to see a child put out of school but also we must teach our children to accept the punishment for what they have done. And where were the parents when she harmed someone else.An honors student does not mean you are innocent. So from reading this the other child was hurt badly and this is not honors behavior. So they need to make her accept what she has done and pay for her mistakes.

You are exactly right about shelby county schools. They don't want to hear about any complaints from students or parents. You can call and complain several times and nothing is never done. Shelby County Schools will take the word of their administrators over parents and students. They don't really don't care about the kids especially in the southwind /highland oaks area. I know first hand from experience. THEY REALLY DON"T CARE.And as far as safety all they are good at in this area is expelling and suspending our children.

if the parents have called 16 times for help & no response back, then someone needs to loose their job or jobs. get off your a-- & do something to take care of this.

It is so sad that a promising student has to be expelled because of her defense against bullies. The principal nor the school district handled this appropriately. How can we as parents expect our children not to defend themselves when it seems no one else will? It may be in Tracey's best interest not to go back to Southwind because obviously the principal or security is not able to handle the BBC, but why should she have to suffer?

And as far as the superintendent, He does not answer parents emails and phone calls when it comes to complaints and concerns. And at Southwind High, When you complain about anything, nothing is never done. And then they talk about Trust Pays!!!!!!!
I hope this young lady wins her appeal........

This girl hurt someone. She should be put out of school. We should be able to send our children to school and be safe but a child was not. I do understand these parents side but how do you think the other parents felt to get the call that their child was harmed over some mess. Being an honor's student does not mean you will do no wrong just that you do work at school. Why should she be allowed to go back to school and walk the same halls as the person that she decided to hit. That would not be right. Yes she should go to school but to another school. She should not be allowed to have contact with the other young lady. Not only that how would the parents feel if this other young lady said that she was scared and hit their daughter and put her in the hospital. They would be hurt and upset they really need to put themselves in the other parents shoes and realize how they felt about what has happened to their child. If this child has had plastic surgery to fix injuries. You have to teach your children that words don't hurt but she did something that hurt a child that was unnecessary. And if the victim was hurt this bad it was an assault and she should be punished and if getting kicked out of school is her punishment she must accept her punishment just like she hurt another person.

i feel her suspension should be overturned. so many times the system wants to react when it's to late. especially when the parents are trying to get the bullying stopped. maybe the principals should be fired like at whitestation high. that student was ignored and now the administrators are out of jobs!

People please read she hit someone not bart of the bulling. Violence is never the answer. She hurt someone should she not be punished yes she should. No one seems to care about the child that was hurt. I hope this young lady pays and the other child can feel safe and her parents do protect their child since no one seems to care.

Not a shocker. No one in this joke of a city is proactive. The concern always comes after the fact...and it's barely genuine then. If that girl was in any way related to the principal, I'm willing to bet that the BBC wouldn't exist.

I say lawyer up and see if you've got any kind of case.

WHO IS THINKING ABOUT THE VICTIM SOME ONE'S CHILD WAS HURT BADLY THAT WAS NOT A BULLY. PLEASE SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROTECTED BUT SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE HURT ANOTHER CHILD NOT SHE HAS I GUESS PROVED A POINT BUT IF SHE GOES BACK TO THAT SCHOOL ANOTHER CHILD HAS TO LEAVE IN FEAR NOT OF WORDS AND THREATS BUT THE FACT THAT SHE WAS HURT BADLY AND PUT IN THE HOSPITAL

what you just said you contradicted yourself!you said "we must teach our children to accept the punishment for what they have done, the girl that got the beatdown,i guarantee was in the clique of bullies and got her punishment for what she did. Just because the principal said she wasnt originally named doesnt mean she's innocent. I dont know any of the participants of this story but i doubt very seriuosly that Tracy just picked some poor innocent girl at random to administer a beatdown to.So your comment was a contradictary

And the school did not say this the King girl said it. And so again if it was your child that was hurt you would feel differently. And if this story is true according to the king girl why has she waited because she thought nothing was going to happen and when it did she wants everyone to feel sorry. When we were young were were taught sticks and stone can break my bones but words can not hurt me. So these were words and she used force and out someone in the hospital. So she should accept what ever punishment is given.

I know all parties involved and know for a fact that King was not bullied but her and some of her friends have bullied others. One of her friends used to come to my house until I found out how she was. And know that the day it happened it was planned not because the other young lady was jealous but King was jealous. And the Monday after there was talk by King and her friends that the girl just stood there & got beat. And after king was suspended she made threats. It has me so shocked to now see that she is pretending to be innocent in all this. She is now doing what she was told to do to get the city on her side so she can get back in school. I have no problems with King but know she is so wrong. And not being truthful. She should not come back to Southwind but take her punishment like all other students before her.
