yes the southaven police are extremely rude and downright a**holes. lighten up guys, you work for the people!

the southaven police that were at the snowden grove amphitheater on 8-15-08 do not deserve to be police and should be fired . anybody who pepper sprays somebody after they are handcuffed should not wear a badge.

they are very rude,i live next door to a cop and he is very rude.i got pulled over for speeding 3 yrs ago by another officer and he acted like i just robbed someone.five mph over the speed limit,i guess i deserved the smart mouth and the rudeness.ive lived here all my life and was here when our police chief was a rookie,he used to not only do his job but acted like a citizen at the same time.i dont understand why he allows his dept.to act like such aholes to the public.

Yes, they are rude. I moved here in 2005 and never had a ticket since then I have had 4 tickets!!! And I bet no one here has ever got a ticket for standing in an intersection in the turning lane waiting to turn on a green light!!!! Yea i had no idea that was illegal!!!I see cops do it all the time. so now i have to pay 250 to the city of southaven for a rude cop!! Then I got a ticket for running a yellow light and another one for having arakansas tags, I had only been here a week!!! And the other was for no seat bealt. I guess they just wanted to pull over the girl in the sports car, because there were quite a few people he passed to get to me that had no seat belts on either!!! They are really extremely RUDE!! Were are they at when kids are driving stupid and passing in the turning lane????

I got a tickit for going through a yellow light also. It was on Stateline Rd

Not sure if they are rude. I have lived here for 9 years, and have never had to deal with them. Quit trying to blame everyone else for your mistakes. Just obey the laws and you will never have a problem.

I'm with you on that one Mike. I have lived here for 8 years and the only one I had a problem with was a rookie that walked into my house uninvited by me. When I told him to leave, he refused and I then threw his ass out, reported the incident to the Chief. He is still looking for a job today. You are right, just obey the laws.

And after a couple of weeks of living here we had a knock on our door...and guess who it was?!?! A police officer giving my husband a ticket for having out of state tags! So yes, ofcourse that made us have a pretty bad impression on the police in Southaven!

Standing in the intersection waiting to turn is illegal. The yellow light probably turned red when you blew through it. Not wearing your seat belt it illegal (and stupid).

Don't blame them, it's your fault.

I live in Memphis but visit Southaven frequently because my girlfriend lives there.

I've never had a problem with them, in fact the two that did pull me over were not rude at all.

Give me these guys over MPD any day of the week.

Hey, I WANT them to be rude to people who are in our town doing less-than-legal things. I like the reputation of, "do what you want in Memphis but if you try it in Southaven, we will NOT stand for it."

We started a neighborhood watch and they have been very friendly, supportive and responsive. I think they are doing a great job (and yes, I've had two tickets since moving here two years ago-but I deserved them so I'm not going to whine about it and say the officer wasn't friendly).

Thank you Doug. Another difference between us in Southaven, The losers in Memphis, is that down here, we don't play "their" games, We shoot back and take care of our own. If I get a ticket by Southaven PD, like you, I will deserve it.

WARNING: if you pull up past the painted line while waiting to make a LEFT turn - even when the light is green - you are considered OBSTRUCTING THE INTERSECTION ... it cost 250 dollars of our month's budgeted grocery money for my family and I to LEARN that according to Southaven law. THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR JUST TURNING LEFT!!!!!
Why is this not taught - i never knew it was illegal!

i also think that if my job everyday was to dress in huge bulletproof chafing clothing, be called a pig and other colorful adjectives, watch for and chase down lawbreakers all day and deal with screwed up drunks and criminals..while risking my life and getting zero respect for it i'd prob be an @$$hole too. the problem out there lies with driver education. test people every couple of years and everyone will know the laws

uh, excuse me? im sure a lot of us "kids" can drive better than you anyways. plus i dont get pulled over ever. get to know the police department and you'll get off the hook easy.

If you are one of the many "kids" I see driving crazy as hell in Southaven, then you need to be in jail. Beware, I video tape clowns like you every day and turn the video over to the Police when I feel you are posing a threat to other drivers. For the record, MOM is right. Read her posts and learn from her. For the record again, I used to be a cop. Be careful out there, because you never know when you will be caught on my video camera.
