Nope I disagree with you there, but we are all entitled to our opinions I suppose. Let's see how well Suboxone works for you...to me Suboxone is a JOKE. It causes WORSE effects on the body (doctors try to sway you from believing this because IT IS easier to DETOX from, and that's the only good thing about it). Back to Methadone Clinics, doctors most definitely take care of their patients, and if they were so worried about money then how come they kick patients out every single day, and try to illegally make silent dose caps (making it impossible for patients to go over 100mg without going through tons and tons of B.S.)? It just pisses people off and makes them turn their backs on these clinics. People abuse drugs on the clinic since they aren't getting high enough doses, and eventually they are let go. If anything, the only downfall to these clinics is making patients stay on low doses. That's my opinion. Politicians and society need to back off Methadone Clinics and allow them to operate like they were originally supposed to. In fact, society and politicians are ONLY making things worse instead of better. Of course, they won't see the incredible damage they've done until it's too late and they have a bunch of mad, psychotic drug addicts running rampid on the streets committing crimes to cop heroin/opiates. This is what it's coming down to, just watch and see. Like I said before, everyone just needs to back off and live their lives and stop trying to destroy other peoples. People die everyday from alcohol, other prescription drugs, etc and nothing is done about this. It's BS for all the fingers to be pointed directly at MMT programs. Is it MMT's fault that some people on the streets decide to mix methadone with other drugs? NOPE!
Agree Politics and health dont mix

I just found and read through this forum today, and after reading all of the posts I just had to put something down. I've been a pt. at EITC for a year now(that's in Lawrencburg, IN). And I can honestly say that despite some of the minor problems that they have, that MMT has saved my life. I started going there after 3 years of extreme use, and everyone around me agrees that they see a whole different person. Now I'll be the first person to acknowledge that there are people that go to Clinics with recovery foremost in their mind, but I know many that do extremely well. I go to NA 5 days a week, Group Therapy 2, and I also go to as many groups as they offer at EITC. I'm also set to start dt'ing this week.

It really upsets me when I see people badmouthing these clinics, because while the success rate may not be STAGGERINGLY good, there is a success rate. And if that opportunity wouldn't have been available to me, I don't know where I would be now.

Also i wanted to say something I saw about UA's at EITC. I have take-homes there, and I get tested AT LEAST once every 2 weeks(observed).

All methadone clinics do is take your money get you addicted to it so you have to continue to go. I went for 4 years no counseling no help ever trying to lower dose they just wanted to raise it. It is a legal dope house that makes money off sick addicts. I'm going to suboxone, off methadone for 3 weeks changing over next week. Its not treatment its a quick fix thats always there. A money maker for them. Go to a physician who specializes in addiction. Took me 4 yrs to figure this out. The methadone clinic doesnt monitor its patients they let me a 29 yr old female go from 140 pounds in weight to 89 pounds in like 3-4 months. They kept screwing with my dose and my mother died on easter sunday at 47 (she wasnt sick so shocker) I took my first nerve pill ever my own rx and they medically detoxed an 89 lb female 2mgs a day from 70mgs a day after 4 yrs of use. Wouldnt work with my new dr who I'm seeing to get the suboxone. Methadone is useless.. Gives u a new addiction to add to the one you already had. Paid for 4 yrs and I'm still an addict but now to methadone so I now have to go to another dr for suboxone (over 700.00) a month for that med w/o ins. All the money wasted on methadone would have paid for that and I would already be drug free b/c getting clean is the purpose and the clinic isnt it. You can work with your dr and depending on the person you can be on suboxone for as short a 3 months or a yr or so what works best for you. Go to a dr that cares for their patients. Not a dope house that just dispenses dope and could care less about your health. ALL METHADONE CLINICS NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. ANYONE KNOW ANY PETITIONS TO THIS EFFECT.
just because it didnt work for you doesnt mean it wont work for others, are you people really that self righteous?

METHADONE IS LEAGALIZED DOPE DEALING!!!!! 4 YEARS EXPERIENCE..Methadone is as bad as herion (basically as strong)) I did oxys bunches. The clinics have terriable policies and only give u a crutch. Get some nerve and quit sucking off the goverments legalized dope houses. There are other treatments for h. Find an educated dr who works in addiction. Methadone allows u to function without being sick thats it... It keeps you addicted.. They never try to get you off cause they want your money. Check out other treatment options before you say methadone saves lives. Its been hell the whole 4 yrs I've been there. I'm still an addict but now to methadone.. Not anymore I'm going to suboxone. THEY DONT MONITOR OR TAKE CARE OF THEIR CLIENTS JUST IN AND OUT PAY AND U GET YOUR FIX. SAD.... GETTING CLEAN IS THE POINT AND CLINICS ARE NOT HELPING PEOPLE DO THAT. THEY ARE INCREASING DOSES TO KEEP MONEY ROLLING IN. METHADONE WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE SHEL WHEN ENOUGH OF US ARE SICK OF LEGALIZED DOPE SELLING BY OUR GOVERNMENT. BETTER TREATMENT IS AVAILIABLE ALL U HAVE TO DO IS LOOK FOR IT.
thats fine by me, i dont wanna get off, i wanna be high everyday...and if you think done is as strong as the big H you aint never mainlined none of that good shit.

Who are we to say whether methadone is good or bad. If it helps people it helps people. I am at a methadone clinic right now due to a Dr. over prescribing pain medications. Am I an addict? Yes. It is working for me right now. I will not get into personal details but I will be leaving the clinic soon. It helped me get through a very rough patch in my life. I believe that it helps people when used properly. I don't believe they should shut down clinics, but I do believe that they should be monitored closer by the federal government. Each state has different regulations and this makes it easier for people to get their hands on it and abuse it. Education is the key.

To Tim I bet you are still taking the methadone too. It is never ending, its too hard to stop. Its not a solution forever do you want to be going to the clinic for the rest of your life. Try suboxone, it works and way safer and more controlled than methadone. Don't fool yourself It gave me my life back for years until I found out how hard it was to come off of. But to each his own. But methadone is no longer the best treatment. Not to mention the terrible facilities that dose patients with methadone.

AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE REASON PEOPLE OVERDOSE AND DIE BECAUSE YOU ARE CHASING YOU BUZZ. SAD, THERE ARE BETTER THINGS IN LIFE THAN TO BE A DOPE CHASER. USE THE CLINIC FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE. YOU BRING EVERYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO BE CLEAN DOWN AND YOU MAKE US LOOK BAD. YOU MAKE ME SICK. BUT SOME PEOPLE ARE TRULY STUPID, I HOPE YOU PAY DEARLY FOR YOU CHOICES. DONT USE A PUBLIC SERVICE TO MAINTAIN YOUR DRUG PROBLEM. AND KEEP YOU SMART USELESS COMMENTS TO YOURSELF OR SOMEONE WHO CARES.

I first was prescribed darvocet, vicodin, percocet etc etc after a parachuting accident in 1987. I was naive and thought that any drug prescribed by a doctor was "safe"....this led to 12 years of absolute HELL. The only thing that saved me was METHADONE - I began treatment in late 1999 and am still on the medication. I suffer from terrible, chronic pain, but instead of taking large amounts of narcotic painkillers, I take 100mg of Methadone/day and it takes care of most of the pain. I had tried several in-patient clinics, 12-step programs, etc etc, they didn't work for me - if I had not found the Methadone Clinic, there is NO DOUBT in my mind - I'd be dead long ago! PLEASE do not give people, who are in a Methadone program, a hard time - most of them are not "drug-seeking", but instead are desperately seeking help with their addiction. I thank GOD every day that HE helped me find such a good program with such good/caring people. Thank You, GOD Bless.

Welp, politicians and society got what they wanted! Indiana Methadone Clinics are being micromanaged to the extreme. I have been on the clinic for going on 7 years; had acquired my 2 weeks takehomes (would have been a month IF NOT for the damn politicians and idiots). Now, THC is being tested for, which I believe to be complete bull malarkey. For one, it is the ONLY drug that doesn't negatively interact with methadone, and I sure as hell have never seen anyone do ridiculous things to "cop" marijuana. In California, many methadone clinics do NOT test for THC and some are ran by the same corporation as SITC and EITC. I have lost my takehomes because of pot, and not make a 2 hour drive back and forth (totaling 4 hours per DAY) every single day to obtain my dose. I cannot hold a regular job (therefore I'm not a tax paying citizen), I cannot have a normal LIFE, and I sure as hell am facing health problems because of these long drives! I now have edema in my legs because of these long drives as well and by the time I get home I am to exhausted to do anything productive! I have never sold my medication, never tested positive for ANY drug other than THC and this is what I get!!!! I do not deserve to be punished over this! Now, I'm at the brink of quitting the damn clinic because it's just not working out. I WARN all future and current patients that eventually methadone clinics will be SOOO TIGHTLY REGULATED that it would just be easier to stay an addict and steal, lie and cheat. Don't get me wrong, I think people on methadone should NOT use other DRUGS in combination, but THC is NOT a drug. Many states are legalizing and decriminalizing it. I cannot wait till the day when all this backlashes on society and politicians who believe that tighter regulations will make for better methadone clinics see how wrong they really were.

Make the ban permanent. The drug is being used for many other medical purposes and lied about by pharmaceutical reps advising doctors for higher profits and that is against the health and welfare of the society. Any politician voting against a permanent ban should be voted out of office as it appears they may be on the take.
