Methadone does not end lives! The choices people with methadone ends lives. Methadone is no different than anything else two-sided. It gave me back control of my life and I am thankful for it.

Aaargh. My brother rang to say he caught a movie that was pushing the endorphin deficiency theory. He asked if it was true that people had to take it for life.

I explained - no, very few - but it's a good marketing technique for the pharms and they even pay addiction Drs huge sums of money to con the patients that it's true they're screwed without it.

I explained that brain recovery is possible and even referred to the many successes on arlenewlas website as proof!!

Just because it might work FOR YOU, does not mean it doesn't end some lives and make others unbearable. We well know methadone does kill some - no plenty.

Naturally - it is a narcotic, class A in the Uk due to it's high danger - there's just no disguising it.

The only reasonably safe methadone is German bought stuff as half it's contents are not heart toxic like U.S. stuff.

Very good, Tim.
Everyone who has detoxed off of Methadone now wants to say how horrible it is. It was good enough when they went on it to get off of other horrible drugs. But because many misused Methadone, it's not the people's faults for misusing Methadone, It's the Methadone's fault.
And they say that Methadone screws up OUR brain cells?

Absolutely. "LETS blame the methadone." It couldn't have POSSIBLE been anything else. I'm sorry folks, but if you either a.Have NEVER been treated for an addiction via methadone, or b.Never been treated for pain via methadone, you have no room to talk negative about it. It just gets me all worked up, reading all these posts from ignorant people about how "METHADONE IS BAD", but now it's just kinda funny. I just sit back and watch the lot of you making idiots of yourselves...:)

I wounder if you could give me some information. I can't remember under what thread i saw the post. It again was about methadone being the gold star teatment for methaodne which it is right now. But you mentioned in a reply back to someone that you seen that heroin maintenance is now the gold star treatment. Did I read that righ or miss understand. If I did read it right could you direct me to information stating herion is gold star treatment. I think heroin maitenace should be an option for people dependent on opiates. I have an interest in herion maint. So please if you could direct me to where it states this I would be thankful

Let me be honest here for a moment:

Lets just say that some absolutely ignorant individual gets through to one of the big shots, and methadone gets "BANNED" woo woo! All of the sheep are happy, and now we can stop worrying about "methadone killing people" right?
WRONG you idiots.

Right before I booked myself into the methadone clinic, I can HONESTLY say that I came || <---This close to robbing a pharmacy. Okay, so...heres where I'm going with this. The crime rate in the United Stated would SHOOT THROUGH the roof. Everyones pills etc. would go "missing" and since it's banned, more people will be interested in experimenting with it Illegally, just like EVERY illegal drug in the US.

Like I said before..."I am not a bad person." Before my problem with addiction, I would never have even dreamed of going into a pharmacy with a rubber gun and asking for all their OC's

Yeah the only ban is that Indiana has a lot of patients coming in from other states and they want to know why so no clinics can open..its not that they banned clinics all together.
Anyway..feel free to think this is a "WIN". Its hardly that.
Thats right...keep blaming the methadone.
You are totally correct.
They are checking to see if their clinics are making it too easy for people to get methadone, and that could be the reason people are driving from other states.
As we talked about before, look at the states around it. Most people have no choice, because their states don't have accessible clinics for them.
And don't forget, with this they are also charging $150 per patient coming from out-of-state to the clinic, and we KNOW who will end up paying for it...The person coming there.
While I can understand wanting to find out what is going on, but since when does it take 19 months to find out? Because their ban on opening any more clinics is until Dec.2008. Once again, the methadone user takes the brunt of it...and they haven't done a damn thing wrong!!

Some of these people makes sense except the ones that think they are cool by cursing to prove how educated they really are, not.
I just lost a friend to Methadone, plus what other drugs that certain Doctor perscribed.
My friend had severe back problems where that the head surgeon at University of Illinois would not and could not operate on him.
And a certain pain doctor kept on perscribing more and more pills, without regulating the intake.
The things that we saw this man did and tried to say when being on this medication, perscribed. He would fall asleep in the middle of vacuuming or talking with you. He hated everyone and was very mean. He hallucinated. So his body would get used to it and he needed more for the pain, he was addicted.
So this past Saturday the doctor perscribed 120, plus vicodine. The next day, Sunday night he died with 91 pills left.

Which one of you need 120 Methadone pills?

The problem is the doctors perscribing, perscribing and not observing the patient by any means. This particular doctor has a reputation for giving this medication in this matter.

The patient is looking for help, how is that helping them?

Please contact this organization. Harmd is helping loved one's file complaints with the appropriate authorities. There are also a couple of attorneys that we are working with on lawsuits. I am so very sorry for the death of your friend. I lost my only child, Jamie Pethel on 09-04-06 to this deadly and dangerous drug. Love, Mary Haynes

Rob,
I first of all over this page to see who was "cursing", because this site doesn't usually have a lot of swearing, and I was amazed to find that you were talking about me, because I was the only person who said anything close to swearing, and the word was "damn". Come On!! In no way when I say that word, do I think I am "cool". I am a 47 year old woman who is on an "adult" web site, and you need to expect that we are going to get angry every now and then. Mostly when the medicine that saved so many lives, including mine, are getting blamed for taking so many.
Let's let God decide if I am to be condemned for saying the word "damn", shall we? I don't need a preacher telling me how to talk.

And then I read your story over and over again because I kept feeling that there is something wrong with your story. Something didn't feel "right" about it. I am very sorry about your friend who died, but if you put the story out here, you need to be prepared for comments said about it.

Your friend, "He would fall asleep in the middle of vacuuming or talking with you. He hated everyone and was very mean. He hallucinated."
And NO ONE called his family? or called his doctor?
I am amazed.
Just to let you know, people are given prescriptions for a month at a time. 120 pills is only 4 pills a day. And Yes, I get almost double that amount for a month. And not once have I done anything like your friend.
But here's my question:
Why, if you all knew how "out of it" he was, didn't anyone take those 120 pills from him? Did you ever realize that he took 29 pills in that 24 hour period??
This isn't the Doctors fault! You said the doctor wasn't "observing" him? When does a doctor sit and observe every person on a drug? How about the people who WERE observing him?
Let's stop all this blaming the doctor! I'm sure he didn't know that your friend was "nodding out" and "hallucinating". And how did you know he was "hallucinating"? Because that is NOT a symptom of just Methadone. Who wouldn't know that something was WRONG here and say something??
I give up. No one will EVER take responsibility as long as they can blame it on the drug itself and/or the doctors.
Damn, that makes me angry!(sorry about the curse)

Reetz,
I'm about ready to blow a head gasket..These people sit around and complain about how this friend acts or that friend gets 120 pills, like that some number that going to make us all go wow. I get 90 a month myself..If this person was getting 10 mg pills. I hate to tell you it would equal 360 pills a month for me. How does that make you feel. I'm not falling asleep while doing anything except well sleeping. I want to know why you didn't offer this person help, or talk to his doctor. I guess, you didn't want to be involved. I've told on my own family members when I noticed a family member with a xanax problem. I spoke up. I know what that stuff can do to someone especially mixing it with alcohol..I've been praised by her for saving her life. Please stop blaming medicine for the worlds problems, blame the people who don't know how to properly administer it or the person seeking to try to get "high" Education is the key not banishment of a drug..Bruce

B.Moore, It all depends upon your insurance. You should ask your clinic if they will assist with processing your insurance forms. This is something that I would like to see, Insurance Parity, all insurance should cover this cost, some Insurances do pay for it but many do not. Your ins. company info should include the Pharmacy formulary , it will list what medications they cover, take a look at yours.
I do have more info if you are interested. b

Methadone killed my father last month. There are better alternatives with a less painful withdrawal.

Very sorry to hear of your father's death last month. There is a forum that you can find, just google harmd (helping america reduce methadone deaths) that has a link to a support site where you can receive the needed support. This site will not be the one. Again, please accept my condolences.
