A Melville man was arrested late Monday night in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed an Amityville bicyclist in Dix Hills earlier in the day, Suffolk police said.
Alberto Dibernardo, 28, of Randi Court, was charged with felony leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving a fatality after his black, 2010 Jeep Wrangler struck and killed Ricardo Fernandez, 44, just off of the Long Island Expressway, police said.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene after a passing motorist called 911 just after 10 a.m. Monday to report seeing a body on the side of Express Drive North about a quarter-mile east of Burrs Lane. Police said they didn't know when the crash occurred.
