GOSH! I am stunned to find this info so late.
Kip has popped into my mind over the years. I went to Morgan State w/ him and just figured I'd Google "Kip Morgan State" and this site appeared.
I remember him driving an old brown Mercedes at MSU (in Balto.) and a group of us went to see the movie "Pacific Heights" and he was driving so fast that we got into an argument b/c I was terrified (and I was in the back seat).
He was so incredibly nice and cool and smooth and talented. I actually have a VHS tape of a talent show at MSU we were both in (circa 1990) where he played the keyboards for a contestant.
He fixed my old raggedy VCR that kept breaking down and eating up my tapes. By the third time he said kindly, "All right now, I may have to charge you next time...Free is running out." He also used to drive an old van and once my roommate and I were riding around Balto. w/ Kip and he kept driving the van in circles so that we could fall all over the back like three-year-olds.
Kip was a MAN, a light of a man, even when he was 22 years old.
And reading all of this is just--
I'm so privileged to have known him. His light is still on.
Family of his...You see that we loved the guy and he was uber special. We'll see him again.

Wow, I have never seen such reaction from so many people about a motorcycle accident. Kip sounds like he was a good man but made the tragic mistake of speeding on a well-traveled road. My condolences to all his family and friends.

I lived at 555 Front Street and I was Kip's families paperboy in the mid 80's. He was the nicest guy I knew. Whenever i went to the house to collect for the papter he sometimes paid me out of his own pocket and would tip me too. I thought he was the coolest kid in the world because he had a license at 15 from Virginia. How lucky was he? We are 4 months apart in age. I would see him driving this giant van around and he would wink and nod at me. I would be on my bike of course. I was on GOOGLE MAPS today and I was looking at my old neighborhood and came across Kip's block and decided to Google him. It really sucks that he was taken from us. He had so much to give to the world. RIP KIP.

Anyone from uniondale killed on a Motorcycle is a good death I feel safer with anyone from Uniondale dead. I bet he was going to commit a crime, drink a 40 and lower his pants to the ground anyway. not a loss it actually a win win.

Kip changed my life and gave me so much, he could have done no wrong. I was a singer in his girl group when I was just a little girl, 13 to be exact. He taught me everything I know about music but he also tought me so much about life (lord knows i wouldn't listen to anyone else) that stays with me and I remember his voice today at 25. He taught me to believe in myself, follow my heart, take chances, laugh, work hard, enjoy life, cherish your loved ones, among a million other things. He never let me give up. I cry every time I think of him and miss him all the time, still can't drive by the Collins family block without getting hysterical. Mr. And Mrs. Collins, Terry, Rick, Tony, you are all such a beautiful family it's no wonder why Kip was such an amazing man. Words can't explain how much I miss you Kip, you hold such a huge piece of my heart and you have forever changed my life. Your passing has been such a huge loss and the years pass but it doesn't get any easier. I'd give anything to hear you say "samaaaaawwwwaaa" one last time or give me one last hug. Every time I get in a booth I thank you, if I ever find it in me to make an album it will be because of you. God needed your music in heaven but none of us here were ready to let you go! You are greatly missed. To the Collins family, if you read this, I hope you are doing so in good spirits with many blessings.

Love always,

Thinking of you ... Missing you ... I keep singing, I guess I can't stop because sometimes I get a feeling and a chill like I know you're listening ... If it weren't for that I wouldn't sing another note or Kim Burrell rift again. I work with a friend of Tim Olphie's, her husband remembered me from when I was young. I heard he's up there with you now ... Probably talking music and lambos, Puff too huh? 808s and heartbreak ... Not a day goes by I'm not missing you Kip, I'd give anything to have you back

I feel that the Newsday article did not do enough to honor the memory of my big cousin. Kip produced my very first track. I have been writing for over 20 years, but my first time being in the studio with Kip made me want to do music production as well. I will continue that dream, in order to carry on his legacy. R.I.P Kip
