Wow, that is really disturbing. People in general already have a negative mindset toward the NCPD, their 6 figure pay and attitude toward the public. Throw this on top of it and it sounds like a big shakeup is needed in Mineola.

Follow the money.

the 7th Pct is well known to be the slowest Police Dept on Lig Island. The cops want to work out of Seafords 7th pct because it is so slow.

Cops at night play hide and seek, usally in the LI Volunteer Fire Houses sleeping or grubbing free coffee at 7-11 - they only work 3 days a week, and make $130K a year nice. now we know why are taxes are so high.

I guess things in Seaford must be picking up, given the armed robbery and fatal shooting of an ATF agent there on New Year's Eve. No law enforcement job should ever be taken for granted, because bad things can happen even in places that may be considered by some to be "slow".

Wow, that's a chilling commentary on the 7th Precinct headquartered in Seaford. However true it may be, it seems a bit harsh to blame the NCPD for the robbery and shooting. They can't be everyplace, unless they've gotten a bad, public reputation that made this an easier hit in their criminal plans.

to be charged with petit larceny like in this case the crime must be witnessed by someone other than the partner in crime. no arrest can be made here. the general public believes suspicion is enough unless its their kid in trouble. also when kids get caught stealing in school most of the time its handled internally. rarely resulting in arrest. this is another anti police non story. the school may have also decided not to press charges.

The Long Island Press, which printed the school break-in story, is always looking for local news, but doesn't always find it and prints it anyway. This seems to be the case here and who gets it in the neck, the Nassau County Police Department?

if you guys wanted a pension then you shouldve taken the test. dealing with the scum of the earth, crazy people and super stressful situations for 20 years isnt easy. especially on all of the holidays you guys have off. as for cops getting free coffee, big deal. the poor clerks that work the overnight shift appreciate cops coming in and getting coffee.
everybody hates the police until they need one. you should thank a cop next time you see one.

I like and agree wholeheartedly with what you said, 911 Supporter. Police officers deserve the pay, pensions and ALL the coffee they can drink. They put their lives on the line and deal with the worst that our society has to offer. They do a job that most of us would never accept. It takes a certain kind of man or woman to do that job. Thank God we have enough of them around.

Dave, you really are a moron. Retired cops have come in contact with hundreds if not thousands of people who would do them harm if given the chance. If retired cops can't carry guns then who can? Criminals? Why aren't you commenting on a criminal having a gun? No you are worried about the guy who legally carries one for more than two decades. You are an idiot ny liberal.

I think there should be a whole organization called 911 Supporters. Let's praise our policemen instead of putting them down. How many of you out there would even consider this dangerous position as a career? I can count you on one hand.

its the same old story with the 911 supporters.
why all the glory?
911 was about 3000 civilians who perished.
police are mindless civil servants with a drinking problem.
I am not a liberal so save your ignorant tirade.

do retired cops really need to cary guns?
i would prefer active cops only to carry guns.
at least their on duty and possibly sober.
all you retirees should move to Costa Rica and give
the rest of us a safer LI.

Hey dave you ignorant loser. If your going to quote me then do it correctly. And yes you are a liberal. Btw, 3000 civilians died. What about all the cops who died running in to save civilians? All cops have drinking probs? I was never drinker. The extent of my drinking was champagne at midnight on new years. I would love to see you bad mouth cops to the four daughters of the police officer killed in nyc. What do you suggest? No police? Anarchy? Did a cop nail your wife? Is that why you hate them so much? Women sure do like a man in uniform.
