During normal times I've been told by utilities they would rather comeout a fix a problem than do something like tree trimming to prevent damage. Just like people these utility companies ASSume nothing will change including the fact that they won't see a hundred year storm so they budget accordingly. The problem in many areas one fallen tree can takeout a whole neighborhood.
Hate to say it but many residents and customer b$tch and moan when the utilities do tree trimming. They cry anything from you are ruining my property value to the tree hugger crying you are killing a very old tree that should be treated like royalty. I've seen greenie neighbors put up such an argument with utility contractor landscapers.
Good Luck to all.
