From the 1930's until the 1970's, the top marginal tax rate was 90%. Those were the most prosperous years in our country's history. We are talking now about raising it to 39.6%. That will hardly "legislate the wealthy out of prosperity." Also, were you aware that in the last 20 years, the wealth of the Forbes 400 - the wealthiest 400 people in the U.S.- has quadrupled, while the average wage when adjusted for inflation has increased by 0%. In fact, the average income in this country hasn't increased in 30 years when adjusted for inflation. Zilch. Nada. Nothing.1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
