Not sure if worth commenting but West Islip is the best school district around and well worth the taxes we pay. Keep up the good work.

Well in that case, I am not sure that you actually pay taxes.
The reason why people love the district has to do with the teachers, the principals, the coaches, and the support staff who have been able to work with this mess and make lemonade out of lemons, not to mention the parents who volunteer a lot of time too.

Obviously you haven't compared district to distric test results in a coupla years. In the '80's and 90's it was one of the best districts, but it's not anymore. WI USED TO be one of the best school districts around now it's an island wide joke about how fast academic ratings nosedive when you got unqualified people at the top making lots of bad decisions. Only thing WI is worth paying high taxes for is their ass kickin' lax & football coaches.

Exactly, the lax and football keep our district in good PR, if not for them, all they would have is bad PR.

Isn't it amazing how easily and quickly our shuttered schools were leased? Nothing this BOE/administration has ever done has gone so smoothly.
Every issue for these people is like pulling teeth, between the red tape, the foot dragging, the hair splitting, the excuses, it's one excuse after another, they put the community through a rigmarole on just about everything.
However, when it's time to lease a school, and coincidentally in the process the lightbulb goes on, with a creative personal touch, have you ever seen anything handled so incredibly well suddenly?
The bottom line is that when it's personal, it's amazing how fast and quickly people can act to accomplish what they want!!
Good or bad, when something is in it for them, or will have repercussions that effect their world, see how quickly they suddenly go into action.
Suddenly there is no red tape, doors open, it's like the parting of the Red Sea.

Never hated her. Hated what the BOE did. Still hate what they did. I disagreed with all of them. Normal civilized human beings can disagree with each other without hating them. I know that concept is completely alien to you people on here, but it is completely normal.

Agreed! That would be a terrible idea to send kids back to their classrooms during indoor recess. The teachers should be outraged by this too. They need time to decompress and get some much needed energy out before being stuck in their classroom for the remainder of the day. It also has them miss out on social interaction with their peers in other classes. Dumb idea!!!!

Oh please, and what about the whole Debra thing? Forget that one?
You're a turn coat, it's that simple. Good luck walking down that road, and don't forget what you wrote is on the web, so it's kind of hard to deny it now. You're a head case.

Did this idea come from a person who claims to be an educator of children? Is it any wonder why we're doomed.

At least it is an idea. Anyone else have any bright ideas? I am thinking the lunch ladies can maybe play freeze dance with them or bingo or DO SOMETHING with them. There are options. The way you come up with a solution is to throw ideas out there. Anything is better than having them sit in the cafeteria in the dark with their heads down on a table in complete silence. Especially when it is NOT ALL OF THEM that are causing the trouble. If they were entertained and able to get their energy out there would be fewer incidences like this.

I am sure you have every word anyone ever wrote printed out and at hand so you can refer to it. You are the headcase. What about the whole Debra thing? What does that have to do with anything? Get a clue.

Nice try, I don't know if it's possible to print out every word you've ever written, we'd have to kill a lot of trees, but if I printed out ONLY the comments written when you were hating on the BOE, it would kill a significantly larger amount of trees than the turn coat position you are now taking these days.

Maybe we could have them gaze out the lunch room window and watch the new Bridges Academy children enjoying (at $10.00 a sq. ft.) our things, playgrounds and such, which our taxes dollars paid which was meant to be used and enjoyed by our children.

There is nothing that can be done. This is the tight squeeze that Simon was referring to, that over time, will improve. So until then, tell your children to hum quietly to themselves for the remainder of this year and perhaps next year until our enrollement drops again. In other words, suck it up!

If they are stuck in their classrooms, does this mean we will need to hire more Aids to watch them? Can't expect the teachers to never leave the building. We don't have enough Aids as it is and that is a huge problem during recess time.... Whether in or out. This school district is NOT what it used to be! I would never tell anyone to move here anymore. It's sad.

you are so smart! you got it all figured out. im secretly a board member in disguise because I disagreed with something they did and now I agree with renting out buildings. we are so lucky to have a genius like you in our midst! I showed you all of the info you asked for and I knew it would be a waste of time and since you have nothing to refute that info you are pretending you can't find it and calling me an idiot. clever tactic Einstein!

You're not referring to me "Einstein", I never asked you for jack because nothing you say as far as I am concerned holds any weight. You have proven that your point of view is always changing, it cannot be trusted. I also never thought for one minute you are a BOE member, although you would make a pretty good one going by your volatile and inconsistant and unpredictable, nature.
