Monsanto, among others, genetically modifies your food so Farmer Bob can dump chemicals all over the plant. These chemicals kill every living thing EXCEPT the modified plant.

Then, Monsanto patents the seeds for the chemical resistant plants and makes them sterile so farmers can't save their seeds from year to year. They have to buy more from Monsanto next year!

Quite the scam eh? But don't worry, I'm sure the government would do something if it wasn't safe...

I don't eat all organic, but I try to when I can, and I'd love to see it catch on more.

I saw the film "King Korn" at the U of M School of Public Health Film Fest last Thursday and either my friend told me about what you described or it was in the movie. It's not the government hoarding the seeds, though they allow it. There are a LOT of scary things going on with our food production. Salmonella is just the start of it, too.

Buy local, when you can. Buy organic, when you can. Learn about where your food comes from.
