Fala was the beneficiary of more than $4 million in equipment and services from the Long Island Power Authority, which in 2001, along with then-Gov. George Pataki, announced what was then the largest commercial solar energy project in the world. The system had a 1 megawatt capacity, allowing Fala to sharply reduce or eliminate its electric bill. Fala, which contributed to Pataki's campaign, paid just $2 million for the system.

Come on Newsday, you have to provide what the actual cost should have been and the exact amount that Fala donated to (persona non grata) Pataki's campaign. That way the rest of us know the ratio of how much taxpayers $$ we should expect in return for our campaign contributions. I would guess/bet that they donated 10-20K to Pataki and got millions in value back from the state. These s c u m b a g politicians don't even care enough to get alot out of giving away millions of $$ of our $$. There are millions to give out all over the place, that's why.

US Web in Huntington is in the same business as Fala. US WEB received a grant from the town of Huntington so they can hire 50 new workers. Well they are letting most of their older workers go [meaning anyone over 55] and replacing them with illegal workers. Way to go politicians.

US Web has filed Chapter 11 and has given all its workers the WARN Act. I am sure the owners will live the good life with all their wealth. The workers are the ones that suffer.
