Ahhh, the real reason why the post was started... " PTA shenanigans" drew you all in by making false allegations about the oquenock board, then came on as "I Agree" to set her own agenda, again, over and over and over again. It is very old Wendy, get over it already.

Liar! Not what happened at all! Nasty women!! There will be a group of us doing The Dougie when you head towards Middle School in June! Troublemaker!! Who appointed you community watchdog and self ordained whistleblower. Such a poser! Acting like you have incriminating information on members of the Board or the PTA.. Unfounded! Unsubstantiated! I agree with P.Pan & Tink ~

No, actually what I think this person's mission was is to get all of us at eachother's throats by posting as one another because it takes the focus off of what transpired at last night's boe meeting.
I'm not talking about Rick Simon resigning and Bernadette Burns moving up, that's small-potatoe-news compared to what Steve Gellar had to reveal to one of the residents who point blank asked him what was being CUT from the budget this year: For one thing, reinstating the full time elementary school librarians that they promised during the budget presentations---CUT, NOT HAPPENING. Oh, guess what else the elementary students lost? THERE WILL BE ZERO-NONE-NO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLUBS WHATSOEVER. ALL OF THE ELEMENTARY KIDS IN WEST ISLIP HAVE HAD ALL OF THEIR SCHOOL CLUBS CUT-GONE!
Annmarie Larosa was also questioned by a resident as to why she abstained from voting on the South Shore Children's Center Lease for Westbrook. She looked shocked that someone had the balls to ask her. Watching the color drain from her face was pretty funny. Both Annmarie Larosa and Steve Gellar were downright speechless when a resident asked why all of the other tenants had to pay the school district upfront security deposits but South Shore Children's Center didn't have to pay the district a dime of security. I think their response was "Uhhhh, uhhhh, uhhhh, uhhhh, I'll get back to you." Top billing of the evening went to another resident who came out and said to the boe what's been on everyone's mind for the past year: "The elementary school kids are bearing the brunt and suffering because one of you put your personal interests first and the other 6 of you are just as bad for going along with it".
Vegas Odds Makers have it as 6-1 that that resident's full commentary will wind up on the cutting room floor and never make it to the boe video post.

You KNEW we were going to bear the brunt of this. Are you seriously surprised about it?

The Common Core Curriculum has GOT TO GO. THAT is why we have no money! We are left in the same boat as we were in last year and now there are no more elementary schools to close.

Go look up what a joke the common core is and opt your kids out of the math exam next week. If enough people refuse we can show them we arent going to stand for it. School Boards on Long Island have passed resolutions against these tests and whole states have refused to implement the common core. We are spending all of our money on this and are still ill equipped to implement it fully - WHICH MEANS YOUR KIDS WILL NOT BE TAUGHT WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW TO PASS THE TEST AS THE TEACHERS HAVENT BEEN GIVEN THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO TEACH THEM.

I AGREE couldn't possibly be Wendy Regan.
Wendy Regan wouldn't spell the word "potatoe" istead of the correct spelling "potato".
Maybe that's the bug that's up your arse. If you don't like what she says or what she stands for then don't listen to her. But make no mistake that she's not going to shut up just because you call her names like a bully on the playground. If you don't like what she says, don't listen. It's as simple as that. It's as adult as that.
I was at the boe meeting and heard Mrs. Larosa's answer to Wendy's question and watched her body language while Margaret was speaking. I don't agree with your assessment of Mrs. Larosa being calm, cool and collected. But that's the difference between you and I. I will leave it as I don't agree with your assessment. You will now write a post and call me names because I don't agree with you.

Wow!!!!! That is extremely awful!! I admit to being lax this year with my BOE meeting attendance. It's stuff like this that seriously has us all at eachother's throats. You don't see Middle School or HS parents pulling this crap with eachother. I think we are all so saddended by what has been happening to our youngest that we are all resenting the taxes we are paying to live in this district when we all feel our Elementary Schools are sucking right now!!! Very very sad. Funny thing is that I heard it was Bernadette Burns who squashed putting library on the chopping block. Is she already showing her intent to cave when it comes to the BOE and let them bully her like they did Simon? If so, this is just a sign of better things to come.

go to the meeting yourself instead of relying on what you hear - you gotta decide for yourself because honestly as you can see everyone perceives everything and everyone differently.

PS I dont know why anyone would ASK the question as to why Annmarie LaRosa would abstain from such a vote - there was no other reason besides trying to cause trouble - OBVIOUSLY she would abstain from a vote that concerns her former business partner AND close friend just as she abstained from the vote concerning Jamie Winkler and the contracts to lease the schools. If she didnt abstain I would be the first up there to ask questions!!!!! It is OLD news and was done the right way.

Wendy works hard and does a lot for our kids but BOTH she and Annmarie have to stop this vendetta with each other because honestly it gets us nowhere.

PLEASE focus on what NEEDS to be done!!!!!!

I thought you were an attorney Jessica? I'm surprised at your comment. To me, I thought it was very cunning to ask those questions of Larosa at a boe meeting. Larosa never publically stated why she was abstaining from either vote everyone just assumed what her reason was. But now Larosa's answers for abstaining are now officially on the record, no? But as you point out, it's all a matter of opinion as to why people ask what questions at a boe meeting. I think Wendy doesn't ask any questions at a boe meeting that aren't going to lead to something else.

I just think it is OBVIOUS why she abstained. Stop insinuating that I am stupid and why do you morons constantly bring up that I am an attorney! You people are ALL INSANE. Running around with your gossip and hating your neighbors -it is like living in a soap opera and you all LOVE THE DRAMA. Wendy and Annmarie hate each other. That much is obvious. Wendy asks questions to rile her up and she takes the bait. It is a WASTE OF THIS ENTIRE TOWNS TIME! Wendys energy and passion is much better spent fighting for what our kids need and not fighting her neighbor.

How could you possibly know what thought Larosa was having that cause the irritated and annoyed body language to which you refer? And since you couldn't possibly know, it is quite possible that perhaps the irritated and annoyed body language you saw was because Larosa (or Gellar for that matter) couldn't or didn't answer the question of why South Shore Children's Center--which has the same name as the preschool Larosa owns, didn't have to pay WISD any security deposit. All of the other new tenants had to pay hefty, upfront, non-refundable security deposits to the district, but not South Shore Children's Center. Why is that? Please keep in mind that a non-refundable security deposit does not have to be kept in an interest bearing account or an escrow account until the end of the lease period. A non-refundable security depostit can be spent by the landloard (WISD) as soon as it's received from the tennant. Maybe the fact that WISD is on the brink of financial insolvency was conveniently forgotten when the South Shore Childrens Center was being written. After all, weren't we all told that WISD is renting out Westbrook to MAKE money for the district because the WISD so desperately needs money?
Bridges Academy non-refundable security depostit =$27,000
BCBA Boxing non refundable security deposit = 6,000
South Shore Childrens Center (a school w/ the same
name as the preschool Larosa owns)
non refundable security deposit =$ 0.00
Not that I want to get sucked into your stupidity but where did you get this information - because I really am not interested in hearing that you heard it from this one who heard it from that one - did you see an actual document or are you just fueling the fire here with more rumors and lies and innuendo and speculation - Cause honestly none of us have time for this BS and this is how you work - so sick of the gossip and whispering and rumors.

Jessica, were you at the meeting? Wendy asked a question and annmarie answered it. No one got riled up. no one yelled at each other. It all seemend civil and benign. Wendy is entitled to ask questions, annmarie is entitled to answer them or not. Your assumption that they hate each other is a little crazy.
However, I will say that it was obvious to me why she abstained from the vote, and usually that would be done on the advise of council to avoid potential conflict of issue questions. Because she abstained, no one can claim conflict of interest in this issue because it was the other 6 boe members that approved the lease. Who really cares beside the 10 of you here anyway?

Flattered at the impersonation. Such a loser!
Dear Wendy and Mrs. Dixon, I commend you for standing up to these people who think this is their kingdom and we are their minions. I am proud to have stand up community members, holding our elected officials and paid administrators to a higher accountability than the lock step morons are willing to do. You don't need my praise, obviously, or anyone's for that matter. IGNORE the simple minded individual who questions nothing, but then cries about how we have arrived here, a year later, still in a deficit. So, rather than cut the expensive Geneva Switzerland product, IB, we are cutting elementry ed programs? Our tax dollars are heading over to Geneva Switzerland to line the pockets of this international programme while our tax payers lose their childrens locally beneficial programs? If any of you think that is normal going forward, you need your heads examined. Keep our tax dollars in West Islip where we keep programs that cater and satisfy a larger student body. Holy Shit!

Informing the BOE how their decisions are affecting our children is not whining. Asking a board member why she made a certain decision is not stupid. Especially when its someone who did not feel it necessary to divulge why she chose to close the schools she did even after every other board member did. The waste of time was allowing the woman questioning the security of personal information go on and on and on even after informing her that we do not use that program. You may think Mrs. Dixon made a fool of herself, but the applause she received tells a different story. You are the whiners and Mrs. Dixon rocks!
