After August, it was boarded up again. Has anyone been back recently and torn down the boards? I want to go back! It's because all these fucking herbs make too much fucking noise and throw shit all around and blow the spot up. There was a time when the house was so peaceful, not matter what time of day or night you went, no one was there (not even bums). I've rolled many a blunt in there. But once one dumbass knows about it, he tells everyone and their mother, and then a whole flock of dumbasses run around and the cops are called yet again. Please people, only let friends you know and trust enter the house or we're going to have a bunch of stupid people that don't know how to keep it low key ruin it for everyone. THANKS.

That was the grandmother house, the grandson who looked like a scare-crow blew his head off in that house in the late 80's.

You need Ghost hunters in that house.

I was in there once back in 2006 when I was in high school and I've been meaning to go back and see what it looks like now. That sucks if its boarded up now.

My friends and I found this house years ago! It was such a good spot to just hang out and get a good scare... It's a GORGEOUS house and it's so ridiculous that all these druggies tore it apart.... At first I was upset the cops boarded it up but now I'm happy they did because it was seriously so different from how it looked just a couple years ago because of the idiots that tore it apart for no reason at all... I would seriously die to live in a house that beautiful... And FYI a man named Edwin Paul Shattuck who was a lawyer used to own it. He died in 1964 and the county wanted to turn the property in to a golf course but economists fought against it (since they would have to remove all the trees and all that)... so it just sat there left to rot =(. Poor house. I wish I was alive then I totally would have bought it... It's seriously my dream house. Yes it has a LOT of rooms and it has a spiral staircase... I've been around the entire house before it was torn apart - since I mentioned I was one of the first "kids" to discover it... I then told my friend about it who showed one of her friends... Who showed these crack heads that started blowing up the spot & tearing it apart =(. Guess I should have kept it secret... Well for those of you who go there to smoke & tear up the place please don't bother because your just going to get arrested.... Obviously the cops now know the spot and you know the nassau cops have nothing better to do so I'm sure they check up on the house a lot now that YOU BLEW UP THE SPOT.

Went there last week. Went all the way into the basement. The ceiling in the basement is really low. One of the rooms right in front of the stairs on the second floor is wedged shut. It's kind of creepy. We were going to kick it in, but decided not to.

Just went last week. We went all the way into the basement too. The ceiling down there is really low. One of the rooms right in front of the stairs on the second floor has the door closed, and wedged shut. We were going to kick it open, but decided against it.

As of October 25 2013 the house has been torn down. I went there with my friend yesterday and we went up the dirt trail like we were supposed to. In between the park and the church. It's off Washington Ave. by the college streets and is directly across Adelphi Ave. There's a barricade blocking the trail and a No Trespassing sign. Once we got to the top of the path (what was once his driveway presumably) we found a huge dirt clearing in a square shape. Then a rectangular dirt clearing adjacent to it but have the width. We assumed the house was deeper in the woods so we trekked further in. Gave up after about 45 minutes and went home. We should have checked google earth before we went but instead we checked after. The house was in the exact spot that the dirt clearing was based on where we walked and it was the same shape as the house. It's been torn down unfortunately. But don't be discouraged because there's still Plainview's very own abandoned Tuberculosis Hospital!
