Immigrants' Hunger Strike Ends With a Die-In

Full story: cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com

For 10 days, a group of illegal immigrants had staged a round-the-clock hunger strike in front of the building in Midtown Manhattan that houses Senator Charles E. Schumer 's office, calling on him to take immediate action on a bill that would provide a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants.

If they don't want to eat then fine don't eat, I couldn't care less.

This is like a little kid holding his breath because mommy won't buy him a new toy.
Just plain childish.

How stupid! They should have BEEN arrested, instead of warned. While Schumer eats steak and lobster....they proved absolutely NOTHING!

A huge fishing net should have been dropped over them. Air lifted and dropped right back into their home country! Missed opportunities what a shame.

"One woman was hospitalized but released after a day, said one of the protest leaders, Gabriel Martinez, 27, who was forced to withdraw from the strike on Monday due to low blood pressure."

I wonder who paid for that hospital stay. Seriously, there is something truly twisted in this society where it would be a crime to smash their brains all over the sidewalk and scoop it up with some Tostitos for a snack. The law lacks common sense. It should be a crime to walk by these people WITHOUT spitting on them and kicking them in the crotch.

As far as the hosiptal stay we know who paid for it ( us)You know citizens really get a raw deal, when we "clearly" break the law without hesitation law inforcement will ticket us or in some cases arrest us.

Why is the illegal protest being ignored?

Funny how the papers never report they are breaking the laws of a country that isn't theirs by being here.In Washington are our law makers, and the President of the United States who swore an oath to uphold the laws and to protect this country from foreign invasion. Well I call it illegal invasion when millions and millions of citizens from another country cross our borders in violation of our laws, they are illegal. And when the people we elect decide to not only not do the jobs we elected them for, but try to give amnesty to these hoards of illegals in payment for votes, it is time to replace them. Makes no difference what party they belong to, time to get rid of them. If we American citizens allow them to give amnesty it will forever change our country, and not for the good. Look what they have done to their country of Mexico, look around you in your city's and see what they have done to the areas they have settled in. They make it a second Mexico.People who have come here the legal way for a better life can't believe we are allowing this to happen, and are afraid they will see this country become what they left behind . Hidden in the AMNESTY BILL, which American citizens have stated by a large majority they do not want is a clause allowing any illegal who is in this country when amnesty is granted the right to bring their family into the USA. So let's see anywhere between 12 to 30 million here, according to whatever report you read, now add at least 4 to 6 persons for their family, now are you ready for the over whelming flood into this country ?? We have 15 million legal American's unemployed, another 15 million under employed. While millions and millions of illegals work. I am tired of hearing jobs Americans won't do. That's a load and we all know it as we see wages go down to less then what they were 10/15 years ago as more and more illegals are hired after American's are laid off. It's time Americans stood up and demanded our laws be enforced. Obama and our elected officials should not be allowed to give amnesty to pay for the office of President. Obama and McCain both spoke to the group La Raza and promised to give amnesty in exchange for votes. So now the Democratic party stands to gain at least 6 millions voters if they can get it passed, well I call that selling America. Please stand up speak out before it's to late.

A fake "die-in"??

That impresses nobody, especially Chuck. Give him the real thing!! "Drop dead for reform!!"

PS. There is a difference between a hunger strike and a sensible diet. Just because you passed on the greasy pork for a salad plate doesn't impress anyone either.

If it is a known fact that these people are illegal why are they still in the country? ICE should have rounded 'em up and shipped 'em out on day one!'We the People' don't care if they starve themselves. We want 'em gone by any means!

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
