Jessica: did Helene Tsouprakis sign the lease for westbrook or not. It's a very simple question. When was the last time you talked to her about it because you are leading all of us to believe that she talks to you a lot about all of this. This past week Helene herself told me she has the lease but didn't sign it yet and now you say that Simon already announced that she signed it. Which one isn't telling the truth Helene or Simon?
I JUST talked to her Thursday. It isnt some big conspiracy. What is your problem?

If it's not signed yet, a person of principles wouldn't sign.

You people are evil and disgusting. So this is your revenge? Try to ruin her business by anonymously saying "you" won't go back? Oh and the initials are sscc, not Sslc, hmmm wouldn't you KNOW that if you were really a parent there? Your full of crap. Helene employs a wonderful group of woman all of whom live in west Islip. She contributes to the economy of this town, and the well being of her students though excellent early childhood education. You don't like it, don't go back. You won't be missed you piece of crap.
No one is saying anything bad about Helene. Everything I read on here says she's very nice. My daughter went to Helene's school and she was very nice then to. I think what people are saying is that they don't feel comfortable b/c it doesn't add up about all the coincidences, the timing, and the cheap rent, and who her former business partner is. Last night @ Beach people were saying they have the president of west islip's pta council and the wife of another boe member working for them in their preschools is that true or just a rumor?

The teachers there are wonderful, who cares who they are married to or what they volunteer for outside of work. They are qualified to teach and that is all that should matter. You are all reaching for something that just isnt there.

It matters very much! If it wasn't about leasing space in a tax payer owned building, you would be 100% correct.

I understand your point but why not get the facts, the real facts and not what is on Topix. Everyone keeps asking for answers from people on here who are not the authority on South Shore or the lease info.

I still dont believe Helene would get mixed up in something like what is being insinuated on here. She has too much to lose.

You are correct, it does not matter and the people here just have a lynch mob mentality. If they really feel something is wrong, and something improper has been done, then they will stop posting anonymously, go and speak to the superintendent, contact the state ed dept, or anywhere else they think they can get accurate information and do something about it. putting posts here are just dumb!its just the gossip column of west islip. There are so many holes in their conspiracy theories it is laughable.

you have to ask yourself was this followed:
Duty of Loyalty/Conflicts of Interest

Trustee/board members owe allegiance to the institution and must act in good faith with the best interest of the institution in mind. The conduct of a trustee/board member must, at all times, further the institution's goals and not the member's personal or business interests. Consequently, trustees/board members should not have any personal or business interest that may conflict with their responsibilities to the institution. A trustee/board member should avoid even the appearance of impropriety when conducting the institution's business. Acts of self-dealing constitute a breach of fiduciary responsibility that could result in personal liability and removal from the board.

The board of trustees/board of education should have a written conflict of interest policy that clearly sets forth the procedures to be followed in instances where a board member's personal or business interests may be advanced by an action of the board, including a provision that the trustee/board member may not participate in any decision to approve any transaction where such conflicting interests may be advanced. The policy should also include a requirement that each trustee/board member provide full, ongoing disclosure to the institution of any interest the trustee/board member and/or his or her family has in any entity that the board transacts business with. The policy should be reviewed and discussed with the institution's attorneys and auditors prior to its adoption.

The rent is no cheaper than what any other tenant is paying. I dont know who the teachers are married to to be honest, but it is a small town. Do we constantly have to play Six Degrees of Annmarie Larosa???

Your question has already been answered. Are you deliberately pretending it hasnt or are you just being argumentative. Let me spell it out for you:

Months ago a bid was put in. Then it was accepted and announced at the council of ptas that a preschool would be leasing Westbrook. I have not seen the lease, but if it is anything like the others it should only be for about 5 years - or a one year with 4 1 year options or a 2 year with a 3 year option.

excellent reading. Now go look at the boe policy and read the conflict of interest statement, and also call the superintendent who will tell you that annmarie has abstained and recused herself from any decisions and negotiations regarding helene tsouprakos and south shore children center.

Fact. January 2, Ms. LaRosa wrote a letter on the sscc facebook page announcing the seraration. SSCC WI is reported to be poised to sign the lease at Westbrook, if it hasn't been done already.
BOE member/partner in SSCC Inc. is a THE connection. It's this real connection that must not be ignorned. You claim this was hatched months and months ago, while Ms. LaRosa was still a partner, otherwise why write a letter on facebook on January 2, expressing the bittersweet separation? It's this involvment that is highly questionable and suspect.

Hypothetically, how easy would it be for any trustee of any board to USE a desirable business arrangement that they know about, to their own benefit or the benefit of someone very closely connected? I mean, is that kosher? Do you really think that this type of thing is acceptable? Where do they draw the line?
