Not only is the food mediocre at best, the staff attitude is terrible. The owner (looks like Mario from Donkey Kong) verbally berates customers and acts annoyed that you inconvenienced him. I recently visited the shop and left my bicyle in the doorway by accident. Instead of just asking me to move it, after stepping outside I heard him berating and putting me down to his employees and other customers in the store. What kind of a businessman does this?

Bottom line....he lost a total of about 20 customers who I have already told about this. Town Bagel is right around the corner and their attitude (and food) is fifty times better.

I've been going to L&E for many many years and have never experienced a bad attitude. In fact, they have never been anything but friendly to me.

Well, you must have caught them on a good day becuase the fat dughter of the fat owner has just as much of an attitude. She got on my case one day becuase I hased for grape jelly and she only had strawberry. Must be something about fat people. Either that or they are so miserable having to get up at 3Am every day and STILL have Town Bagel kick their azzes with MUCH better food and service.

I've had nothing but great bagels and good service at this place. The prices are reasonable, too.

Ive been going there for years and have never had a problem with them and i LOVE their bagels, always pipping hot.

Charlie: Maybe they just dont like you cause of your attitude and nasty comments. Oh, and by the way, i'm "FAT" and have a pleasant attitude...sounds like your just an A-Hole!

Aside from the fact that I've loved this bagel store's bagels for over 30 years, and i've moved all the way to Farmingdale, and I STILL prefer their bagels to countless closer bagel shops that I've tried over the years, the charm of the store's not changing a bit (either it's product or it's look) adds to my delight in it's bagel-goodness, and I keep being drawn back to my alma mater's best lunch spot.

Wantagh HS students' are the luckiest kids around to be able to eat there daily if they want. Even with a different bagel shop around the corner, this is the one to go to!.

...and Frank: maybe next time don't leave your bike in the doorway... maybe then you won't get reprimanded for putting this hard working guy's customers' at risk of injury... you think?
