Daughter has H1N1 (Not confirmed-however we all know the normal flu is over and this one is spreading like wildfire) Teacher absent and 6 other classmates at Signal Hill. Called and the school was not surprised at all. Just a matter of course. Doctor said the Suffolk County Dept of Health isnt even returning the 50 cases from our dr alone that they sent for testing. Talk about hiding the truth.

Early Monday evening it was announced that there wasone confirmed case at Calhoun High School in the Bellmore Merrick School District and the school stayed open. In fact attendance was higher the 2 days floowing the announcement because the parents didn't panic. As a parent of a student attending Calhoun I totally support the decision of the school superintendant and principal.

There is still season flu in the area and most years there are cases all year long with the numbers peaking in the winter.
