Is it odd for the police to have the car 1 year later? Did they find something in it? Shouldn't have been released after the forensics was done? I lost a friend who was murdered. Her vehicle was taken. They found DNA of the perp but the car was returned once they were done with it.

good point Sam bee----maybe something was found in the car--a water bottle with someone's DNA (other than Rob's), another cell phone, etc.
Can the car be released to someone other than Rob? I am assuming the car registered in Rob's name.

Lori---how awful----I am so sorry for your loss--Thank God the perp was caught.

Carolyn, that's what I was thinking too, and maybe law enforcement being quiet about things til they know more

I was wondering, if car registered in his nam, how long does law enforcement keep a vehicle if no one comes to retrieve it. Do they have a time limit and then it goes to one of those police auctions.?

Sam bee---- I wondered about outstanding tickets, lapsed insurance, expired registration etc. I guess if the car is registered in Rob's name only then no one (Ida included) can claim it. Just thinking of paying Mr Cawfee's registration last year--car in his name and the person at DMV told me that I (the lovely Mrs Cawfee) could not pay his reg. fee.

Slight side note-------does any one read LI Pulse mag.? There was an article published in the May 2014 edition. The article is written anonymously and is titled "Long Island's Addiction: Heroin hits home".
My point in stating this is that there are treatment programs that are long and require the addict to drop out to pursue treatment. Its possible IMO that Rob is doing such a program. The reasons for not advising his Mom and siblings puzzles me.

Puzzles me too. I have known someone that went to re hab , although a ninety day program, and didn't want to communicate with family, however family was advised that he was there, and separately counseled about the situation. They had to go to separate meetings at the rehab place regardless of whether he would see them at all. Also wouldn't you think , since he is a missing person, that a rehab would at least notify law enf so they don't waste time on looking into his disappearance.

Sam bee---if its Ida pulling strings, then possibly she advised rehab facility that his family is to blame, would provide him with drugs etc--all lies of course.

Keeping him missing could be face saving, bids for sympathy (maybe she is getting a book deal or reality show for herself---more bizzare things have happened.), or a way of getting creditors off her back---she may tell VISA that the "breadwinner is missing-look at the news papers!!". If his family knows where he really is, possibility of someone slipping up. This is of course speculation on my part.

Ida's statements and behavior IMO put her in a suspicious light. She knows more than she has told and is telling.

Hopefully as we hit the one year mark--Rob will make contact and ease his Mom's and sibling's minds and hearts.

I am wondering if any rehab would be complicity in ida's scheme to keep it quiet, if that's where he is. Especially as he is listed as missing person. Unless he out of state and the rehab has no idea who either of them are. Or he is deceased and she knows what happened and continues to publicly be distraught and searching

Rob was in an out patient program for some time. Since about mid to the end of 2010. He was under the care of a Dr. and taking the prescription suboxone to fight his addiction. When we search his house the days after his disappearance we found many months worth of the prescription that he had not taken. they were left in his dresser and in fact easy to see. it also was brought to our attention that in the more recent months to his disappearance his monthly appointments were being cancelled and he wasn't going to his treatment. Also the original story we were told about how he was caught striping copper for drug money the night before he went missing and a big fight had ensued has also been changed.

If that's the truth, I'm definitely more apt to believe he was using and took off with someone- a junkie friend, girlfriend, whatever. I was actually leaning the other way. I hope that's the case.

I know first hand how addiction is a family disease. While it is very sad you all have had to endure this, I think this part of the story is very important. Addicts do not think clearly and tend to be selfish, that being said , it means there is always hope that your brother can/ will come to his senses.
While I pray for an end to all of your suffering , I continue to pray for the very best outcome.
Unfortunately not everyone in this is being honest , and while some see it as protecting her family , I feel it is doing a disservice to your brother. Somebody somewhere has had contact with him , even if it was just for drugs , by putting info like that out there , maybe just maybe someone would come forward!
If the fb page isn't gonna be truthful or help with spreading his fliers , it should be taken down completely . If he is somewhere maybe all of the drama and strangers buying into this persona of the perfect husband/ man/ father is making him more embarrassed and pushing him further away !( just a thought )

People are located daily with the aid of social media. When done through a professional source and appropriate channels it can be highly successful. It does not need to be a circus, a prayer chain or a gossip fest. Robert's family may want to look into having a professional FB poster drawn up so that his photo is circulated nationwide and any leads go directly to them or the police.

Agreed! The way it is now could be adding pressure to the situation , IMO .

Also, the family does not NEED a FB page or can have a page without conversation. Just posters, updates and info. It is very successful when done right.

Just wondering, what will happen if he is located end is found to have left on his own and refuses to return. Are there any repercussions from law enforcement because they searched ? Or to her if it comes out that she indeed knew more than she has told ??
