Blame the parents

Bellmore, NY

It is horrifying to see whats happening in the schools in Bellmore. School officials are swimming upstream attempting to educate the kids and maintain a safe place to educate them. Support service in the county have all but been cut leaving little or no services for the few students whose parents actually admit tha there may be some substance issues.
Parents are not involved in what their kids are doing. Kids are out walking the streets at mid-night. Parents approve of the under age drinking and do nothing to support the schools in their efforts.
Even the parents of the athletes turn a blind eye to the rampant abuse of alcohol. It's a real shame.

Kudos to the high school faculty and staff for their attempts. Shame on the parents for not giving a damn.

Fortunately they are very proactive at William Floyd HS where they are planning to provide counseling for area students. This is a wide spread problem.

Put the help at the students fingertips before it becomes a deep rooted problem. Face it your area is no better then any other.

Unfortunately it is easier to deny the problem exists rather then own up to it and address it.

We need more forward thinking.

It is all over. The problem is these kids in more affluent areas generally have easy access to money from their parents.

They also hide and cover it up more so then in other areas.

Lets face it these children probabaly see and deal with their parents less then children in other less affluent areas. Money tends to do that.

They end up being raised by the skinny tight a$$ed live in maid from above! Too bad!

The drugs come from East in from the ghetto areas of Suffolk county. Usally start in Mastic or Shirey where the have home grown meth labs all over those to trailer park towns. I hear cops shut down 2) Meth making labs in Shirley and smiths Point in the past few weeks. Holly smokes.

Not a problem at all. They are cheap and available! My parents don't think there any drug problems so that's good for me.

As long as they keep their heads uo their A$$ and not realize that we have big problems in our schools it will be easy to keep up my habit.

I hope they don't wake up anytime soon!!!
