Thank you to Newsday for this coverage. My father worked with Stanley and ever since that night, every time he's out late driving a limo I pray that there aren't any drunk drivers on the road with him.

Finally something more about Stanley, who seemed like he was a real upstanding. I've read enough about the damn Flynns, especially Neil Flynn. That guy seems like a completely negligent father, especially if you read his closing statements. His rage has overtaken him, and he self-admittingly has become a horrible father and worse husband. And the Flynns are supposedly Catholic... I guess he missed the Sunday they taught about forgiveness! And I'm not saying forgive Marty, but at least let go of all of the rage and realize you have a responsibility to your other children... yea, remember them Neil? Katie wasn't your only child... unfortunately for them.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. I wish Little Stan a very long and happy life. I have no doubt his parents will tell him all about the grandfather he has been named after.

Regarding the Flynn's. I'm sorry for their loss and the horrific things that happened to their daughter. For some reason, she was made the focus and Stan was ignored. They both died in the same accident, but people think there's more sympathy if the focus goes on the child and not the adult.

Enjoy baby Stan. I do believe Grandpa Stan is smiling on him and will be his Guardian Angel.

Let's just say I know certain details about Heidgen others don't. For one, he WAS trying to take himself and anybody else out that night because he was dealing with his OWN RAGE. He said so during his confession. It could have been any one of us. I travel that road to work. He tampered with his own DNA-gutless and self-serving. Neil Flynn is simply reacting (albeit tempered forgiveness) because he knows how the law and the courts manipulate the truth. It turns out the judge Was gutless and cowered into making a deal to satisfy his judicial buddies and not giving the DA too much credit. Mr Flynn's rage is two-fold. Try cradling the head of your own child while the body lays separate amidst the wreckage of a vehicle you "safely" traveled in only moments before.

To all you posters castigating the Flynns...you might try getting down on your knees tonight and thank your God that you don't have to walk even an INCH in his shoes. EVEN ONE INCH...

Amen to that. The Flynn's got enough attention, time for the public to pay attention to Stan and his life for a change.

For your information it is PUBLIC RECORD, you can pick up a copy of the transcript at the Nassau County Court House, Department of Public Record, You should try reading it before posting.

It is with out Merrit that Martin tainted his DNA, this was PROVEN UNFOUNDED and that Kathleen Rice made this omission to Newsday to gain more momentum in an already Giulty before trial verdict.

Neil Flynns rage lies in his guilt and failure as a parent to assure that his daughter was wearing her seat belt, which SHE WAS NOT. This must burn like a wild fire with in himself. Due to that failure his daughter has died.

If the Limo driver had a heart attack and veered off the road and struck a tree, the same results would have occured. Little Katie the Flower girl would have been hurled forward in the same manner and been the same as it happened, being their was no restraint holding her down.

Neil you have other children, grow some balls and embrass them as you would have Katie, they are still alive, but as each day passes they are dying for your love.

P.S, if Martin was trying to take his own life, why was he wearing a seat belt?

Actually, I'll pray that I don't have to walk in KAtie's siblings shoes. They are the real sufferers here, since their father is incompetent and filled with monstrous rage and does not want to be a daddy to them.

I'm glad to see there are other logical, reasonable, and intelligent members of society out there. I really wonder what the reaction would be of all of these people who are calling for MArty's head, if it were someone in their family driving drunk instead of Marty. This was not a vicious crime of an unprodcutive member of society who was trying to steal money, rape or score drugs, this was a stupid 24 year old not thinking. Imagine that... a 24 year old does something stupid - unfortunately for Stan, Katie, and Marty, this stupid act had consequences.

STOP TALKING ABOUT THE FLYNNS.!!!!! THIS IS NOT THEIR TIME TO SHINE AND THIS ARTICLE IS NOT TO DISCUSS THE LOSS OF LIFE.DIDNT THEY HAVE ENOUGH MEDIA TIME?!?!?!!? ITS TO CELEBRATE AND REJOICE IN A NEW BABIES LIFE. STOP ALL LOOKING AT THE DARKSIDE OF THINGS AND ENJOY THAT WHEN GOD TAKES A LIFE HE ALSO GIVES LIFE. THE FLYNNS ALTHOUGH I FEEL FOR THEIR LOSS I FEEL FOR STAN JUST AS MUCH. BUT NOW THAT ITS OVER AND NOONE IS COMING BACK, DONT YA THINK GOD DID THE RIGHT THING BY GIVING LIFE BACK TO A FAMILY WHO LOST A LOVED ONE. THE FLYNNS HAVE OTHER CHILDREN TO LOVE. SO START LOVING THEM AND MAKING THEM FEEL WORTHY AND NOT GUILTY FOR BEING ALIVE.
I WILL NOT DISCUSS THE FLYNNS AGAIN HERE BUT SOMEONE HAD TO SAY STOP POSTING ABOUT THEM, THIS IS NOT THEIR SITE . WANT TO DO SOMETHING OR SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THEM, GO TO THEIR PAGE, OR SAY A PRAYER FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND WIFE. END IT..

AND TO NEWSDAY... YOU SHOULDNT ALLOW ANOHTER WORD ABOUT THE FLYNNS ON THIS POSTING PAGE .. ITS ABOUT A BIRTH.... NOT A DEATH. PLEASE REJOICE IN THAT.
I HAVE NO CONNECTIONS WITH EITHER FAMILY. JUST STATING SOME FACTS HERE.

How could you possibly write this???? This man lost his CHILD in the most horrific way. Maybe he will be able to forgive at some point - everyone moves at a different pace. But to call Mr. Flynn these names is disgusting - this family went through HELL and are still going through HELL. I only hope you can get introspective and FORGIVE yourself for writing this.

Look Neil Flynn's family went through a horrific experience. However, to liken Marty to Charles Manson is an insult to those who suffered from the reign of terror Manson had back in his time. Marty was a stupid drunk driver, nothing more nothing less. Neil Flynn used the publicity to try to get Marty the death sentence. As I said before, Neil does not have to forgive Marty, but if he is a man, he should let go of the rage for the good of his other children. It's horrible he lost Katie, however his blind rage is tearing apart his family, and his surviving children are now suffering those consequences.

Neil Flynn should learn forgiveness, you are telling me that he never drove drunk! An irish guy who has to take a limo home from a wedding is an experienced drinker. It was an accident. He in not a murderer.
Eleanor, limos are taken to and from weddings & funerals every single day. Not everyone that rides in a limo is drunk.
As for forgiveness, perhaps if Marty had taken responsibility for his actions, instead of trying to mess up DNA tests there might some forgiveness.

To defend Martin Heidegen's actions over and over again you must his mother. Only a mother would excuse the murder of two innocent people and blame the victim or in this case the father of the victim. You even go so far as to say that Neil Flynn is responsible for his daughter's beheading, implying that his actions were responsible for her death not the monster Marty. If Marty was so remorseful why did he plead not guilty? if he was sorry for what he did why did he never apologize until he was faced with prison? why did he do something totally disgusting to try and trick a DNA test? because he is scum and I hope he never gets out. I hope the parole board will see him for what he is - a murderer.
