Pet food recall sparks panic among owners

anyone else with this problem? I believe that this sickness was caused by this snack, so please watch what you feed your guinea pigs.

This is a update on the KayTee bird seed. The local health department and the Food and Drug are following up on all the complaints with death of birds and small animals after eating this brand of pet food. I was told they are under investigation. I spoke to the company and like a lot of other people dealing with them, they send me the box to send them a sample of the food. They wanted the five pound bag of seed and the bag it came in. I wasn't that dumb. I am having the seed tested for myself. I haven't heard from them and I don't expect to. I had fed them this food before with no problems but it only took one bad bag of seed to kill my birds. It is too late for me but I hope someone will see this and not make the mistake I did by not checking out the brand first. I hope this company is held accountable and the FDA recalls this from the market before someone has to bury their beloved pet.

My daughter bought me a parakeet for Christmas. Her birthday came in March, so I bought her a parakeet, not only for her birthday, but to keep mine company. With the parakeet, they sold me Kaytee food. One week later, her bird died. I went back to my original food that I started out with for my bird. We were given a new bird for my daughter. It was in the back of my mind that it may be the food, but I never did get rid of it. About two weeks ago, my daughter and I were changing the cage, and I thought I would give the birds a change in food, so I pulled out the bag of Kaytee food, and now my bird is dead also. I should have listened to my instincts. I know it's the food & I'm upset.

I just bought Kaytee vitamin Natures Defense birdseed, next day dead birds in the yard. Yikes

My guinea pigs just died, were healthy. They've been eating kaytee and were healthy. Then, must have been the new bag I had opened, one died a week into that bag, and the other a week and a half later.

I did call the health department about my bird food situation. They told me to call KayTee. I did.
The woman asked if she could have my bag. I told her no, but did give her half of the food to do a test. They tested the food & it was fine. They say they did a test on a parakeet for 8 days and it was fine. I still know in my heart it was that food. They can say it, but that's what I have to go by. So, who's to say it's true? I don't know. You live and you learn.
