Why is this a surprise? My husband and I love each other more now than when we first married. We also work at it - we always treat each other respectfully and don't yell at each other, are affectionate with each other every day and never ever leave the house, come home, or go to bed without saying we love each other and giving each other a kiss. If you want something, you need to work for it - including a loving marriage. What we do and think shapes our brains - so do and think how you want your brain to be and it will be, including "firing up" when ever your spouse of 20, 30, 40 years walks in the door.

I have no doubt that undying love exists. I just think it's uncommon.
