The alleged "victims" aren't victims at all actually. They are pathetic prostitutes that will do anything for money, or drugs for that matter!! One of the victims that made a statement at the sentencing was my girlfriend. I went with her yesterday to give her
support. This was a really sad situation for all parties present. Not just for
all the young ladies that were victims, but for Mark Barbers family as well, especially his daughters and his wife. My heart goes out to them, because they were put through all this misery and they did nothing wrong. Sadly, sending Mark to prison in my opinion does't fix or change what happened in Nassau County Jail between 2007-2010.
My Girlfreind has been clean and sober for past twenty for months, and this
whole trial has caused her to lose 20 pounds, not eat and not sleep, her hair started falling out due to the terrible stress
of the month long trial. In fact she was almost given six months in jail for refusing to answer a couple of questions while i was there in the court room, only due to the graphic nature of the questions.
Barber's attorney, Mr. Gallison; was abusive and down right humiliating during 12 and half hours he crossed examined my girlfriend. "Judge St. George reprimanded him 4 times during the trail, twice while I was there personally. Gallison rolled my girlfriends rap sheet like a long scroll across the floor to make a show in front of the jury.
He asked questions back to her 8th grade school year to destroy her credibility.
To close; My girlfriend has worked extremely hard at putting this part of her life behind her. And this whole trial has forced her to relive this whole ordeal all over again. Honest to God, is was terrible.
And remember, she did not turn Mark in, she was afraid to even consider doing such a thing, even when released. This whole thing happened because of the way Mark stalked her around the jail pulling her out of her cell at night, secret meetings, private work details. He was even caught red handed routinely moving surveillance cameras mounted in the jail, and he had her out of her cell after "night count"; which is a huge no no! ask any CO. In fact other CO's actually complained to Internal Affairs about his unusual behavior with her. Numerous CO's testified against him at the trial, that in itself is an oddity. Because of all this, 2 years after the incidents at the jail the D.A.'s office came banging on my girlfriends door and was going to Subpoena her to court for an indictment, regardless of weather she wanted to answer questions.
Finally
I hope all the girls are able to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives. And I sincerely hope Mark is able to find it within himself to know that he did wrong, how much wrong and what he did, I will never know for sure. However, I am right now willing to bet my life that he definitely violated the law in some regard. And there was truth in some these charges. I say that because I cant speak for what happened to the other young ladies involved.

PS: I know Mark was a volunteer firefighter, and according to many a decent man, farther, friend and co-worker. But even good people break the law. As I stated above I Will put my LIFE on the line that he broke the law!! In fact
I personally I have seen the evidence. But its over and done, And all should try to do their best and move forward with their lives.

Whats done is done, and I hope all can move forward with their lives.
