I wanted to say "practicing but not perfect Catholic" but it was too long.
Michael Bird, many of us who consider ourselves Catholic do so despite disagreement on the Church's teachings about what it means to be gay, birth control, the role of women in church, or celibacy of priests. Getting hung up on the letter of laws (made by men) is not in keeping with the teachings of Jesus, and if only those who support every doctrine handed down by the Catholic hierarchy could call themselves Catholic, we'd have a lot of empty pews on Sunday.
