We have a Local Govt SPENDING PROBLEM!

Local Govt is supposed to look out for its citizens and provide some services to make life better, esp, the safety items like police, fire, and other stuff. But is has morphed into much greed and waste, and now is impoverishing the very people who pay the dang tax.
THIS IS WRONG!

I will be joining the Tax Rally in Tallahassee on the The front steps of Florida's Old Capitol
April 17. If you want to join us, more info is on

www.saveourhomesforever.com

Transportation may be provided, contact them.

We can just complain or do something about it.
I am not giving up so easy. I worked hard for what I have, and people don't need to lose their property over this nonsense.

Many Grassroots Tax Reforms Goups newly formed all over Florida, will be there.

Govt should not grow faster than its citizen's ability to pay for it.

Thousands of Floridians are Revolting for a ReasonÂ….

If you cannot go, email your reps in Tallahassee anyway. Tell them, no more Property Tax! Or anything else you want, but talk to them, they are listening to us.

taxes are not a minor expense, the tax portion of my mortgage payment is nearly as large as the principal and interest payment. The total of the Taxes and insurance far exceeds the principal and interest.

I agree with what he said....but substitute the words "wise investor" for "rich", and "stupid fool" for "poor".....and that'll be about right.
it is not the rich man's fault that the poor man is poor. If you give a poor man the rich mans money they will both wind up poor.

Cut the taxes....give the money back to the people and this includes big business.....all of us will benefit. Make the Taxes 1% of the orginal sales price with 2% per year cost of lviing increases....Keep the Homestead as it is ...but make the taxes 1% of all property sold.....This makes it fair across the board. No guess work anymore, The old system does not work,,,,,1% of the Sales Price will work.....

Why is this newpaper trying to pit Tax Payers and other people against each other?
If we simply fight against each other, we will be too busy to notice that the local govts are getting rich off of the tax paying citizens. The County Commissioners are the ones who set the tax mil rate, collect the taxes and then get to spend it.

Stop fighting and bickering. Businesses pay a disproportionally large amount of Property Taxes, as there is no cap on the amount that can be taxed and currently Property Appriasers appraise at the "best and highest use", even if it is a false appraisial. So, it they get to save some tax money with a new TAX REFORM PLAN, so be it.

The real issue is to force local govt to spend wisely and not waste all the excessive cash that they have been taking.
Let people keep some of the money they work for, including you. If you don't own a property, you still have to pay for higher prices for everything you buy, as Stores have to pass on the higher Property Tax in the form of goods and services they sell.

If you rent, higher rents are a direct result of higher Property Taxes passed onto the renter. Extra money that goes to the TAX Man, not the landlord.

OK Tammy and Dave,
Your short-sightedness tells me that you have jobs that still may pay benefits AND you have your methods of avoiding paying taxes unlike many REAL worker bees...like your furniture depreciation or your SUV because you sell Amway on the side, etc.
but there ain't no free lunches.
The regressive sales tax, when implemented, will only push the blight of this already down-trodden area closer to your doorstep.
You're no different than the rest of your neocon tax-avoidance buddies...the ones with all their corporate monikers on the doorway of their "Bahama Headquarters".
Refute THAT!
It is obvious that you are a renter, and feel that if someone owns a home, or makes more money than you, then you are justified in belittling them with wild assumptions that have no basis in fact. You are clueless.

Perhaps you are also angry at your place of employment and envy the person who owns the business that gives you a J-O-B, and a paycheck. And the person who owns the building you work out of, is probally on your hit list too, since they have to Pay excessively high Property Taxes, and if a TAX REFORM Plan offers cuts in taxes, then the building owner might save some money, which if that happens, they may pass on the savings to the business that employs you, and maybe they could then give you a raise or hire another person, or simply lower the price of the goods and/services provided and maybe business will prosper, and maybe......other good things will happen....

Stop blaming others for your lot in life.
If you want what others have, then work and save for it. This is America, the Land of Opportunity, that includes you too.

You are a sad sack......

If you are worried about giving money to the rich, who do you thing makes all the money off the poor when they lose their homes or get hit with a tax lien? The rich make a lot of money this way. If we remove the property tax no one will lose their homes because of taxes
BINGO! Best post yet.
And if we remove the govts hand off of our homes, then the govt will LOOSE THIER CONTROL OVER PEOPLE.

One of the greatest things America has to offer, is a chance to own a peice of the world, our Home.
Our food and meds are not taxed, why is our home taxed, forever. Even if you ever do pay off your mortgage, do we really own it, when we still have to pay ever increasing taxes on it year after year?
It is like "renting" from the govt. Who thought of this idea? It is wrong. And how much is that 3% increase every year gonna come to in about 30 years?

We need to revive the PLAN to get rid of ALL Taxes on Homesteaded Property.
