I am a 24 year resident of Clayton County. I realize that we are spiralling down financially, but I want to throw something out there. I think our school system needs to be adjusted. People will not come here to live and pay their taxes if we have a poor school system. I suggest that we weed out the bad teachers. By that I mean that if a teacher can't make an A on an English 101 test, he should be fired. How can we expect to educate our children and teach them how to read and write and speak English professionally so that they can get good jobs, when their teachers can't speak it correctly? After weeding out the poor teachers, I think we should put a priority on giving our teachers raises and bonuses. If we paid our teachers well, higher than other counties, we would have no problem getting the cream of the crop to teach here. We could pick and choose. Once our education system begins getting high marks, people will move here again. This might take a few years but we have to start somewhere. I'm not leaving, I'm staying, and I have faith that one day Clayton County will rise up out of the ashes.
