Fireball in sky over lake Ontario

I was driving to Lyndonville from Medina on rt 63 Thursday night,Did anyone happen to see the totally weird fireballs or what looked to be explotions over lake ontario on Sept 13, 2007 at approx. 8:18pm?

There was a law passed that the air force and cost gard are allowed to do drills over lake Ontario. What you saw were drills that lead heat seeking missles away from an aircraft by dropping flaming flares.

On Tuesday October 28th, 2008 around 9:00 I saw the "ball of fire" over the lake. It is in the Northwest sky and is suspended over the water. It pops up and appears to have smoke coming out of the top of it. I have seen it numerous times in the past two years. But I NEVER see any aircraft in the area. One time a second one appeared below the first one. They are alway in the same place on the horizon. It appears, hovers without moving and gradually disappears. It continues to show up and go away for a few hours. It is bright fiery red in color and I am amazed that more people do not notice it when it reveals itself. I called a local meterologist the first time I saw it and he speculated it was a "superior
mirage." I think it is pretty wild..........

my friend has reported seeing this fireball on lake ontario. we are on the north end of the lake, but she claims (as well as others whom were there) saw the fireball rise up out of the water, grow in size and then break up into three other fireballs which disappeared into the sky.

I live in middleport and can see them on the horizon quite frequently. Honestly they freak me out a little bit as i have seen as many as 6 in a horizontal line. They come and go almost as if they were lights turning on and off. I would love a legitimate explaination to this!
