Officials of public agencies aren't allowed to make statements representing their department in support of or against political campaigns. Their response in providing a factual estimate of workload impact relative to this particular ballot measure clearly does not fall within that rule. The Police Chiefs were well within the scope of their duties in responding to questions relative to potential workload impact to the Police Department. Additionally it is part of the duties of the Police Chief to respond to media questions on behalf of the department. To fine them was absolutely ridiculous and simply another sickenly weak response on the part of those ruled solely by political correctness. The Secretary of State needs to grow a set!!!!!
