"She lived for those dogs," Castro said. "She loved them. She would never do anything to hurt them."

Yea.......nothing except STEAL THEM.

how many abused children are there out there? how many elderly are abused, ripped off and are afraid of thier landlord/system/abusers. these people should come before any animal.

I forgot to mention that Karen NEVER asked for money...I offered a deposit but they refused. They wanted the donation after they delivered her personally to my home.

So, then, the Town should, what - leave 50 malnourished dogs at that dirty home, knowing most (or all) of them were probably stolen from the Shelter by lowlifes hoping to sell them instead?

It seems LI is filling up fast w/ criminals, lowlifes, and IDIOTS like you... glad I left when I did and got good $$$ for my LI home.

Pretty soon all the homes on LI (except a very few spots) won't be worth sh*t due to how fast some neighborhoods / towns are going right down the sh*tter...

Everyone deserves a voice, including the animals.
Those people are clearly sick, malicious and misguided.

I personally know Kristen and I know she would NEVER STEAL A DOG ! This article is full of B.S. I have two dogs rescued by Kris, and I have been to her home and have seen what she goes through to keep the dogs alive and to find them homes. Most of the dogs are pit bulls or pit mixes or dogs that are disabled that would be put to sleep. She is dedicated to the animals and never asked for a dime when I adopted my dogs. The work she does is heartbreaking and exhausting and she does not deserve this pathetic excuse for an article in Newsday.

The full story will come out in court, however; the pictures of the dogs taken from the home don't show signs of neglect to me. I don't see malnourished dogs, open sores or matted hair.Com pared to the dogs you see on Animal Rescue, they look well taken care of.

What about humans - that is an idiotic statement. What does the animal cruelty situation have to do with human abuse situations as far as one taking precedence over the other? People like you need to roll up your sleeves and DO something instead of criticizing those who already DO roll up their sleeves and help whatever animal or human is in need. Frankly, I am very sick of people like you who are big on talk and short on action. Joan Harlin
p.s. When was the last time you volunteered at a homeless shelter or nursing home?

What does all that have to do with this story?

There are plenty of 'human interest' stories all over this forum for you to comment about...why don't you stick to those since you obviously have a nasty black hole where a heart should be as far as abused dogs and probably for animals in general...thank god not all humans think & feel like you!

I found this very hard to believe when I heard David's name involved. As a teenager, I recall David and his family as being animal lovers so I was very surprised to hear these allegations. After all, it wasn't every family that had a monkey in their living room and the animal was well taken care of as well as the residence. The monkey was the center of attention in the house and always cared for. I'm curious why the woman's bail is higher than David's if they both are charged with the same offenses.

People who are cruel to animals are notoriously known to be cruel to people too, children the elderly it doesn't matter. They are of the same breed and should be removed from society.

And what happens if the dogs aren't adopted within 7 days? Are they euthanized, as is the case with all the other dogs at town "shelters"???? So they may have rescued them, only to kill them!!!
I was wondering the same thing.

What an incredibly stupid comment! One has nothing to do with the other. Abuse is abuse - period! Animals don't deserve it any more than humans do. And by the way, what are you doing to help the situation if you're so concerned?
