Does the village board have any say in what kind of business opens up on Neighborhood road? If so a Thrift Store? Are you F'n kidding me? And another failure deli grocery store that I will never walk in. I would rather see a bodega. At least then we would have some good food.

P.S. I'm counting how many comments till someone makes an ass out of themselves blaming it on one trustee or another.

Neighborhood Rd needs to be bulldozed. I expect another Internet Game Parlor (what the heck is going on in there anyway?), but no pawn shps allowed.

Perhaps, instead of negativity, some people can make some positive suggestions about types of businesses they would welcome.

A thrift store is one step lower than a pawn shop. These people are supposed to be thinking ahead. Why does every citizen need to attend a meeting. We vote for trustees to do the job for us.
Where in Islandia do you see a thrift store?

I agree without getting in quality stores we will continue to attract people who are looking for "lower class" stores. It is hard to attract good quality businesses however when they see what Neighborhood Rd. looks like. Quality will attract Quality.

There was a great 2006 Neighborhood Road Revitalization Plan that was created with the Town through Charretttes that we the residents attended and came to a consensus on what we wanted for Neighborhood Rd. A very small group of idiots who do not understand marketing and how to clean up and resurrect a business district blocked the implementation of this plan because of their ignorance and fear of 2nd floor apartments. Really shot all of us in the foot. Here we are 7 years later talking about a sewer district that was included in this original plan. The Town was willing to fund this way back then. Now we are starting at the beginning again.

Kind of like the village now wants to re-close the road that the MBPOA had already closed - twice - but the village had to prove what big dicks they had and re-open it - twice - even though all the environmentalists, the state, the county and the town all wanted it closed. Here we are two and a half years later and oh DUH now the village realizes the property owners were actually right and the road should be closed. What a bunch of idiots.

Just to let you know it is not a new thrift shop opening up but a relocation of another one down the road by the village.

Truth....You said the Town wanted to fund a sewer district in Mastic Beach, really?

J-6 zoning would have allowed apartments along Neighborhood Rd that would have caused parking problems, added to the school population, and only enriched the landlord (Stanzoni for one).

If the second floor could only be used for offices, that would be fine. But, once the space remains vacant a while, the tenants will move in like COCK roaches.

And penis envy need not be brought into a civil discussion.

as I recall, V Zany Zelany said, and I quote, "if we have second floor apartments, Hispanics will move in". So they fought tooth and nail to stop it. Now we have the same crap thanks to the free thinking of Zany and his gang. And the development at the Links, before the golf corse came, was going to hook up neighborhood rd to THEIR swear treatment. But now, thanks to Zany and the gang, we have a housing development at the links anyways, we have the same crapy stores on Neighborhood and no Sewar. SAME people that brought you the village.

Please make the connection between VMB and the Links? It is not MB. I agree about the housing. I would have rather seen Crookhaven take it over and continue the golf course.

VMB has no connection to the Links development. The other poster likes to make negative comments about Vic, if he thinks it will support his anti-village agenda.

The links had the absolute right to build 150 single family houses on large lots, which TOB did not want. The Links then wanted to build 450 senior citizen units which would have required a stand alone sewer. Had that been built, it was POSSIBLE for Neighborhood Rd and part of WFP to have sewer access. But, the previous poster again made the false statement that the VMB was somehow at fault.

J6 zoning can be great for an established downtown. But, it is almost impossible to attract offices and second story business, so the landlord will just rent them out. The tenants will street park, and the kids will hang out.

To the other poster, go ahead and mark me as NUTS.

bradys wrong. The developers were going to tie in neighborhood road wi the first idea at the links that had housing, stores on WFP and a sewr treatment that was going to be connected to neighborhood rd. we could have had stores and restaurant on the bottom and apartments on top. This was so Stanzoni could make his money back renting out both floors. The brains behind the village stopped this plan and gave us what we have now. No golf corse, housing going in anyways, no stores on WFP and a sh!tty looking Neighborhood rd. But hey, they are in charge of the village and friends and family of the MBVEV members are doing great. S it was all worth it. To them.

youre not nuts, you're stupid and wrong. And Zany DID help to stop the development of Neighborhood road. I was at the meetings way back when it happened. Instead we get this joke of a village that will no doubt give Gary's nephew the go ahead to an "emergency no bid contract" for 12 million to instal a sewer district that connects neighborhood rd to stiritz marina only.

And really, POSSIBLE? It was POSSIBLE that they MIGHT, MAYBE, KINDA WOULD HAVE included us in the deal? THEY DID MORON! It was drawn up that way! And the PEOPLE that lied to get the village (mbvec) were the ones that stopped it! No one else but the loudmouth blow hard(ons) that are trying to run/ruin our lives with this stupid village.

On another note. I saw that fat slob from the village sit in his car for over 2 hours "spying/stalking" marina 5 today because the POA is trying to fix the marina. Hope that slob didn't get paid for that. What a waste of time and money to keep all of your grudges against the poa going. And before you start Brady, you are lumped right in there with Zany on this one.

Sorry but you are totally wrong. At no time was a sewage treatment plant going to hook up to Neighborhood Rd. There was a possiblity that the Village could pay a huge amount of money to create a sewer district and hook up to that plant but it would have cost a lot of money. Remember there is a huge price to hook up whether you are a business or a home owner.

this was years before a village was even thought about so nice try. The plans were in place, the geniuses who brought you the village protested it before forming the mbvec.
