Remember The Glory Days

President Nixon (1968) and President Reagan (1980)obtained their largest margins of victory of any County in the United States right here in Suffolk. Those were the days of Buzz Schwenck and Tony Prudenti leading the Republican Party. This year, what used to be the Republican bastion of Brookhaven Town could return to the glory days. On March 31, 2009, Democrat Mark Lesko won a special election for the post of Supervisor. He immediately began his administration by calling for Town Clerk, Pamela J. Betheil, to resign as Town Clerk before she has been given an opportunity to defend herself in a Court of Law. He has torn the Democratic Party apart in a way that Dick Zeidler, Walter Hazlitt and Eugene Gerard could never have imagined. The Republicans can capture the moment and return to the glory days. They have to prove that they really want to win and that Martin Haley is not a token opponent. If the Republicans cannot win this one, it will begin their days of wine and roses.

those were the days, when the state was actually contested. Between LI and upstate it was competitive not the 'gimmees" simply outvote the taxpayers and we end up with the likes of obama the clown. with so many on federal and state give away NY will never get back on track and is headed towards california debt. Time to move to a right to work state with low taxes. we need a Ind or Wisc gov here, cuomo is a light weight with taking on government unions and job rules.
