Nut jobs r everywhere. I am a gun owner and lover, but I say this...guns kill people. I am sure that guy would probably have not tired to stab the officer to death with a knife. Guns allow these wimps to commit crimes they are gutless to do otherwise.

Guns do not kill people. It takes a nut job like you. I know a lot of guns and they have not killed anyone.

There will never be enough laws or guns to stop someone intent on using lethal force. Just ask any cop.

Hiding behind a literal translation, I see. Wimps like you are the reason I carry.

Looking forward to the shooter being identified. Perhaps that will tell us something.

Do you think the 2007 Tech shooter would have taken down 33 people if he only had a knife? He would have been taken down after two or three. People kill, guns enable the spineless wimps who would otherwise not.

PLEASE show some respect and remove the picture showing the deceased police officer. How sad and rude to keep it up when I KNOW you have gotten other requests to take it down.

NBC29 won't take the photo down because they thrive on "sensationalism". The Newsplex, on the other hand, is a more professional media company.

Sensationalism of Charlottesville media outlets only applies when it does not reflect negatively upon Mr. Jefferson's community. It's ok to report things the way they are in other areas as long as we don't tell the dirty truth about anything bad in good ol C'Ville.

Why are you so disrespectful as to keep up a photo of the deceased officer? That has got to be the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, what about his family? Do you have no morals? Any sense of decency?

If more people carried there may have been only two deaths in 2007. The first victim and the crazy shooter.

So there is a picture of the slain officer posted, what is the big deal? If we had another picture of Morgan Harrington and wanted to take it down her parents would cry foul because we're not remembering her. People are stupid and have jot hung else to complain about, how about you take the time writing ttese stupid comments and write your congressperson over the state of the economy.

I think the officer photo folks are offended by is the one with the sheet on the ground, not his yearbook shot.

Interesting mystery unfolding here. We have an ambush style murder-suicide, we have a shooter who planned far enough in advance to bring and use a change of clothes to aid his escape, so seemingly not intending to end his own life when the scheme was cooked up. We have missing or unidentified occupant(s) of the vehicle. Can't wait to see how this unfolds.

Yawn...tired argument that doesn't hold water. The more people that care , the more people shot. People do stupid things all the time. People will sove small arguments with gunfire...I am sure you would feel safer if your child was in a high school where everyone carried.
Currently only Zimbabwe has a higher firearm homicide rate.
65% of all our homicides are by firearm. Your argument especially falls flat in the case of the officer at Tech. He was armed and trained. Stick a weapon in every kooks hand and these incidences would skyrocket.
But then arguing with a GunNut is like pissing in the wind and expecting dry shoes.
Oh...and you are so pissed by now, you would probably shoot me with your little gun.
Hence I win the argument..

The VSP said in their news conference yesterday that they were interviewing the occupants of the car that was stopped by the officer who was shot. If you had been pulled over by a police officer and and someone walked up and executed the officer, would you stick around? I know I sure as he'll wouldn't have. This is the primary reason that I carry a gun on me, lunatics. What if that person decided to execute the officer and then start walking towards my car? 13 hollow point 45ACP rounds to the chest, that's what.

Ahhh, the classic gun control argument, which, fortunately for us has never panned out. Every time a gun law is relaxed, every paranoid gun control freak, such as yourself, starts screaming that the streets will be running red with the blood of innocent children and pregnant women. That it will be the OK Corral all over again played out in every town, city, and corner of America. Yet this scenario never happens. Virginia changed carry law in bars? The horror!!! People will be shooting the bartender because of 1 error on the tab. Hasn't happened. One person had been charged, and he shot himself, in the foot. If you're so paranoid about guns, move somewhere that has stricken gun laws, Australia or England, but be careful, knife violence and gangland style beating rates there are sky high, and England has a tremendous amount of gun crime per capita, unthinkable for a country that has super restrictive guns laws isn't it? Maybe it's because criminals don't really care about the law, only law abiding citizens do. Gun free zones do nothing but disarm law abiding citizens and give criminals, who time and time again show no regard for the law (gasp!!), free grazing to do what they want without any fear of resistance. Take your paranoid gun control rhetoric and walk on.

Oh, and yes, the officer was armed, and trained, and, from the sounds of it ambushed. US soldiers, some of the best trained and well armed people in the world are ambushed in war and die, its the nature of an ambush. Hard to defend against, but I guarantee you that every police officer in the US who is on a traffic stop is checking all of their mirrors every few seconds now when they are writing that ticket, something they probably never thought they had to do. This officer lost his life, sad, but hopefully he has helped save the life of another officer the next time that someone tries this stunt.

I can't believe anyone thinks it's a good idea to put guns in the hands of college students, most of which are under 21. The way college kids keep control of their belongings, you can easily see someone coming into a dorm room and stealing the gun, which would not be locked up because there is no way to lock anything up in a dorm room. For it to do any good, they would have to carry it around with them all the time. It's such an incredibly stupid idea. I bet 99% of parents who have kids in college would not want their child to have a gun at college, especially girls who have had no exposure to guns at all. Be realistic!

I own guns but people that should not have guns are buying them with no problem in case after case you have people with records of mental illness, drug crimes or other crimes. The laws that are in place at present are not being enforced. Your thought that you are safer because you carry is not true! I think the officer that was killed had a gun and was qual. to train other officers. Did it do him any good?

Dunce, nobody is saying anything about "PUT". Do you understand the English language? I doubt it or you would understand the difference between "PUT" and a right.
