To careaboutpa:
Dont argue with "LOOK" There is an old saying, "never agrue with an idiot, because someone passing by won't be able to tell the difference between the two of you" |

He says the officer should not have been standing there.
I say LOOKS mother should not have reproduced, or she should have aborted when she had the chance. Now we're stick with him!!! |

Clearly this woman was irresponsible. She should step up to the plate and admit that she was in the wrong and that someone lost their life at her wrong doing. I feel for her children, but what about the officer's small children who will grow up without their father. She should received the highest penalty for this crime in my opinion. Driving is a serious undertaking, not a time to apply makeup or talk on the phone!

Observer, you are very simple minded aren't you. This is a tragedy and your ignorant comments just are not necessary nor wanted. |

Yesterday on my way to work I saw a woman putting on makeup going 70 mph on 83 headed south towards Baltimore. I got away from her as quickly as possible.

Yes and I have seen men, drunk, shaving, reading newspapers, eating, putting on ties, getting changed, texting, talking on cells, reaching in back seat and punching a passenger. What exactly is your point? Many people, both male and female, are not taking driving seriously enough. |

I was referring to the poster named LOOK, not anyone involved with the crash. I agree, the crash was tragic, and LOOK's comments were just plain stupid. |

if anyone of you idiots making stupid comments were in the same situation how would you feel reading these same ignorant comments others are making about you. Yes she made a mistake and someone has died but Im sure she is not evil or vicious and went out of her way to kill the guy. Dont any of you have anything better to do than pick on every person who has made a mistake. How many of you trash talkers have gotten a ticket for anything in your life or had an accident yourselves? you would be no better than anyone else.
I dont even know the chick but why dont you find the time to prevent something like this from happening again than making stupid stabs at everyone that has made a mistake in their lives. |

Usually when a lane closure is necessary, it is marked in advance of where the lanes are going to be closed, not after. Where were the signs "Right lane closed ahead"? Where was the other indicators usually required. Look in the Pa Driver Manual to see the proper way to close lanes, either for construction, road work, or police activity! Nothing makred this whole think was an accident waiting to happen. It could have been a lot worse.

I would suggest that anyone interested should take a good look at the Pennsylvania Driver's Manual, Chapter 2, Signals, Signs etc, pages 18 and 19. Maybe the officers should have been a little more updated on how to mark the lane closures!

Dizzy are you this ladies lawyer, I went by this lane closure moments before the "accident" and trust me, it was well marked. The officer that was hit was trained in accident investigating, I think he knew what he was doing. I just have one last comment....HANG UP AND DRIVE Until cell phones are banned from moving vehicles this will happen again and most likely more often |
|||
Alcohol is banned from moving vehicals and yet we still have DUI related crashes and deaths.In other words, just because something is against the law, doesn't mean it will stop these incidents from happening. Heck, shooting someone is against the law, but people die daily form gun shot wounds. When drivers quit being stupid and selfish and take responsibility will these incidents begin to decrease. I'm curious, why would lane closures be listed in the Pa. drivers manual? Why do I need to know that as a driver? I can certainly understand it being as a suggested way to indicate to an upcoming lane blockage such as a disabled tractor trailer, but to close a lane?? Actually, if you go to the PennDOT Publication 408, in that manual, you will find the proper way to close a lane. Here it states how far markers must be prior to the lane closure, what style markers must be used as well as required distances for closures. |
