The excuse coming out of the police dept is bs. What if the investigating officer did not return to work? Who would be responsible for his unfinished work? Just give the lady the info she's requesting.

We live along the route that Jim takes on his walk to Sheetz each morning. He is a familiar and welcome sight each day. I have missed seeing him.

I am truly sorry for this misfortune and I hope they press charges. People fly on Lincoln Way. They think because they are headed out of town they can speed up. There are children and pedestrians in our neighborhood.

I hope Ms. Maxine gets the information she needs.

Best wishes to Mr. Forney on his recovery.

Glad to hear that Maxine is getting someone to find out the details. We loved seeing him in the mornings when we lived on Garber Street. We're praying that he will make a full recovery & will be back to taking walks again. Also praying for his family as they deal with this. Cars should be more careful & be more aware of pedestrians.

This situation doesn't pass the smell test. What are the police hiding now?

Under our previous chief's watch, no officer was allowed to go on extended leave such as vacation until they cleaned up any pending paperwork. It sounds like this might be what happened.

Regardless, what a shame that in addition to the trauma of Mr. Forney's accident, Mrs. Forney has to deal with this.

Doesn't that officer have a supervisor available to provide that information, or is the supervisor on extended leave too? I'm sure that officer's paperwork has to be reviewed by someone, and whoever that person is should be able to release the information to this lady. This sounds like a bunch of BS to me.

I too, have seen Jim crossing the street from Sheetz to Bob's Service Station on my morning drive to work. When I would see him, I would slow down/stop so he could cross the street without worry. He would always smile and wave and i would smile and wave back. I had been missing him these past few weeks and thought it was just a matter of timing. I am so sorry to hear about this accident. Mrs. Forney my thoughts and prayers go out to you, Jim and the rest of your family. I pray for a speedy recovery and for healing for all of you.

Why are they holding information? They have a habit of that. Make him finish the paper work at home as homework. Our kids have to do homework.Or, why can the police chief not file the paper work .

I agree. I know of someone who could not get information for the same reason and when asked when the officer would be back; was told they were not sure they thought the officer would be going on vacation.

It sure looks like someone should be investigating the police dept.

Why did the public opinion bury the article that the CASD received a act 1 exception from the state to raise our school taxes from 1.7 to 3.5%?

A tiny article was published then quickly moved off the homepage of their website. That kind of reporting is completely unacceptable.

It is clear the newspaper is covering for the school board. I can't wait until people realize their school tax just doubled because the school board did not make enougth cuts to make right all the wrongs they have committed over the years.

Chief Arnold is responsible for all that his subordinates do, or fail to do, so he should be held accountable by Mrs. Forney and her attorney in this sordid cover-up. The Public Opinion, an ersatz newspaper, should assign a competent, "unblinking eye" reporter who will interview Chief Arnold about the event and report the facts about the illegal alien who hit Mr. Forney. Very likely the driver does not have a valid driver's license, not insurance on the car he operated, and has been involved in other driving mishaps.

I love how the "authorities" can keep information like this from you. It's your life, it's your relative and they treat you like you don't have the right to know. Thats crazy. I would be jumping on someones desk till I found out what I wanted to know. This sounds ridiculous. I pray for the family of and "Jim" for a speedy and full recovery.

It was reported on the front page on Sunday as part of a major package on the CASD budget. It is still available on our website.

Without knowing all the facts, I call BS on this one. Even if the accident report was not complete, there were notes made that were available to the supervisor and Chief. Not only that, if his injuries were life threatening, the major accident reconstruction team should have been out and in that case more than one officer would know details. I can think of no good reason they witheld the info. The poor woman should have called the Mayor instead of a lawyer and simply had him call the Chief and get him to tell the poor woman who hit the husband. The Police Chief works for the Mayor....apply pressure with him first.
