Thank you.<quoted text>
Oh, I definitely see where you are coming from. It is a travesty when someone is falsely accused. It only makes it that much harder on the real victims to come forward to be believed. Much less an innocent person's life being destroyed even if it is proven that they are innocent. There is always that lingering doubt; the damage is done. This situation is not a game and some people out there are treating it like it is; like divorcing mothers trying to get custody, teenage girls angry at their fathers for some reason; etc etc. Yeah, I'm not naive. It is a very selfish, self serving world out there and it never ceases to amaze me the lengths that some people will go to to get what they want. It truly helps to have a judge that is unbias and is highly intuitive and really cares to look into things before making a quick judgement. I can respect someone's opinion even if it differs from mine; especially if it is presented with intelligence and civility. A lot of times on here, people get out of hand and take things personally and start with the name calling, which is uncalled for.
It just really irrtates me, that so many people are uninformed. People don't realize that in PA and many other states, the only "evidence" needed is an accuser's testimony and the prosecutors and judges have so much leeway as to what evidence is allowed. they can put so much under the "Rape Shield" and denfense attorneys are loaathe to attack the "victim"
So, it's incredibly hard, if innocent, to defend yourself against such allegations...and many get scared and take a plea, becasue 6 mos. is so much better than the 20+ yrs. they often are threatened.
I have heard mnay horror stories over the years.
I hate to say it but I could never serve on a jury because I'd be wondering what I wasn't being told.
