Wow the girls were 8 & 9 when this began. What brought about them just now coming forward? I guess they just hated the ole man and are going to get him. Where is the proof???? I also guess they would take the word of them now against what he would have to say. Sounds like minnesota to me.

It would be very difficult to make a judgment in such a situation. Usually no witnesses just one persons word against another.

You know, I get sick and tired of people that have never been victimized or have never met anyone that has been victimized, judging victims that have the courage to finally "come out". It is a horrible burden to walk around every day with that secret. My stepfather molested me and raped my two half sisters (his daughters). I didn't know they were raped until they had came to me as adults. That is when I had enough of the "living a lie" and pretending to be a happy family and tried to have "Dave" convicted. But alas, the statute of limitations was past and things just didn't work out because my youngest sister just couldn't take the stress of the ordeal. These predators groom you and manipulate you for years and play head games with you and make you feel like it is your fault. They also tell you that you should never tell because it will only cause problems, etc. etc. Please, just don't judge when it hasn't happened to you and you don't understand. You may not understand someone's actions but maybe they don't either. Sexual Predators are preying on soooo many innocent victims out there that never ever come forward. If you knew how many there really were, it would make you sick. I hope this helps you understand a little. Thank you and God Bless. SERENITY... Chime in here folks, but I didn’t think crimes against children had a statutory limit, especially rape and incest.
Case in point well I guess general. The choir boy molestations those legal actions were imitated well after the normally quoted 5 years. It had something to do with the possibility “repressed memory syndrome”.
Shelby may have gotten some bad advice from her source. Ole Dave could still be able to be prosecuted.

You don't know what you are talking about, or maybe you want to act like you don't know. There are a lot of sick people out there who have molested their own children and have gotten away with it. AT LEAST FOR NOW!!!

If any of you posters have ever done anything wrong against your children ~ Your time may come some day. You can run but you can't hide FOREVER!!!

I wonder if he actually did or if these girls have something to gain by making an accusation. In Pa you don't have to have evidence, just an accuser's testimony if the crime allegedly happened when the child was 13 or younger.
I truly hope justice is done. And people remember he's innocent until proven guilty. If he isreally guilty he should go to jail for a long long time, if not...he needs to go free.

I'm sorry for what you had to endure.
Yes, some victims yake years to come out and some never do. I never did (legally anyway)
BUT, the reverse is true too. Sometimes, people with a grudge or something to gain use the laws in a perverse manner. Sometimes innocent people are accused and have their lives wrecked (and their family's) because as I've stated previously because the law in PA and some other states is that there needs be no evidence beyond aa accuser's testimony. That opens the door for all sorts of accusations...and in this day and age people are often willing to go to extremes for their 5 minutes of fame or revenge or whatever.
I suppose all we can do is pray for wisdom on the part of law enforcement and the jury and that the truth will out
That. and make stronger laws for people who are found making false statements

Sorry, i don't see one set of rules for a person accused one one type of crime and a different set of rules for people accused of other crimes.

In this country, when you're charged with a sex crime involving a child, you are guilty until you can prove beyond a doubt that you are innocent. People are emotional when crimes are committed against a child. They want to see justice done even if Justitia is peeking through the blind fold.

No. but then again I never liked Michael Jackson even when he had a nose, and him being slightly dead (while increasing his appeal to me)...makes it rather hard for me to do so :-)

Whihc is unfortunate as so many times the victims aren't so easily identified.
People cry about protecting the innocents (as long as those innocents are under 18) otherwise you're on your own...if you've been accused, you must be guilty

Oh, I definitely see where you are coming from. It is a travesty when someone is falsely accused. It only makes it that much harder on the real victims to come forward to be believed. Much less an innocent person's life being destroyed even if it is proven that they are innocent. There is always that lingering doubt; the damage is done. This situation is not a game and some people out there are treating it like it is; like divorcing mothers trying to get custody, teenage girls angry at their fathers for some reason; etc etc. Yeah, I'm not naive. It is a very selfish, self serving world out there and it never ceases to amaze me the lengths that some people will go to to get what they want. It truly helps to have a judge that is unbias and is highly intuitive and really cares to look into things before making a quick judgement. I can respect someone's opinion even if it differs from mine; especially if it is presented with intelligence and civility. A lot of times on here, people get out of hand and take things personally and start with the name calling, which is uncalled for.
