I spent many wonderful summers there as a child in the 50's and 60's. My Mother was from there. Was like Mayberry at that time.

Sorry to tell you, but, There are more Drug users than any time i've ever seen it. The Politics are about the same, just different people running it. I wouldn't live there again if they paid me . There has always been corruption in Law enforcement and there still is . Some things never change !!

So did I in the mid to late 50's. Dowdy and Yawn families. what's going on there now? Was a wonderful place back then. I lived in Savannah and it was not at all like Milan & McRae.

Have you ever walked into a dark room and at first you can't see anything, but the longer you stay , the more comfortable you become with the darkness . It's the same with Evil, the longer you stay in it , the more comfortable you become . Go figure !

I hate to say it but it makes me sad when i go home! I was born and raised in Mcrae and i went to college in savannah. It makes me sick how the people there let the youth just go to waste. They have no real authority at home, school, or anywhere. We all need to come together to change and educate the youth.

I grew up in Telfair in the 70's and 80's. It was a fun small, quiet town. I would not move back there to raise my kids now. I never thought it could become a town like the larger ones.

I never thought that it would get so bad either. The little boys and girls call them selves gang members and use drugs i never thought that such a small town would have so many problems, but look what they have to look up to!!

I was born in LC and lived there 11 yrs. I moved to a bigger town. I went back (and still do) to LC to visit. The bigger town I moved to is no longer what it was when I was growing up. It has as many drugs, more murders, robberies, ect. as LC. There are many wonderful young and old people in LC. If you would like to meet some of them, go to any of the churches on Sunday.

I moved here from a larger city, and I have to admit that I'm shocked at how much drugs and violence I've witnessed here for a town this size. My first week I found a singed needle in the Harvey's parking lot and so far there's been seven murders in the past six months. I've never experienced any of this coming from my hometown which has over 30x's the population. My first impression was Mayberry as well, but I soon changed my tune. I'm moving away this coming year.

All you have to do is look at Law Enforcement ! I thought when June Bradfield, became Mayor, things would change, but it hasn't, it's only gotten worse ! Present Law Enforcement, has allowed Drugs and Crime to get so rooted in the community, it would take a Miracle to weed these Thugs out ! You also have to blame the voters for continuing to vote the Politically correct, back into office ! Racial Quotas, and Affirmative action , will destroy any society ! Liberalism is a Mental disease, and it seems to be highly contagious in Telfair county ! Why do so many Whites feel that they have to give up their way of life, so the under privileged can gain power, and reign over them ? I'm guessing McRae, and surrounding towns, will be the first county to send their check in supporting Reparations ! All you guilt ridden, spineless, go along to get along Liberals, need to grow a spine, and take your community back ! Start voting in Conservatives, and you will see a definite change in how the Law is applied ! Liberalism always fails, and Conservatism always Prospers ! Go figure !

Apparently nothing has changed in recent years. I lived there in the early 90's. It was the most miserable 3 years of my life. Speaking from experience, I've lived in every part of this state because of my job, and I can honestly without a doubt say that McRae is the WORST place I've ever lived. Nothing could NEVER EVER get me near that place again!

hi i moved here 2 years ago from a big town and i love it but i also loved where i came from. i beleive mcrae has alot of potential i mean where else can you live so cheaply and where else do you go that your neighbors wave to you. the education is better than where i came from and although mcrae may have problems i for one choose to rise above them and do what i can to restore mcrae to mayberry

I like Lumber City, but the government is too corrupt. I lived there all of my life, now I live in Hazlehurst. For a while I moved to Baton Rouge, LA. I really missed LC because my mom and dad live there. Just this week a house burned near my parents. The Cravey's house went up in flames, and the fire dept just stood there and watched it burn. I cannot believe what LC has turned into. I long for the days of kids, just like me, being able to ride their bikes without crack heads trying to lure them in.
