I heard the city of McKinney was possibly looking to build a mall near Highway 75 and Westin Rd in the future. I attended a city council meeting and over heard several residence talking about it.
Second, Does anybody know when craig ranch is going to start building more retail, water park, etc... I drove through their and it seems very empty. Third, Does anybody know the outcome with Bridge Street Town center. I heard the hotel portion was going to be rebuilt by another builder. Thanks for the help and information. God bless all. |

I heard the same. Its suppose to be built in McKinney, Texas after the City Of Westin is taken in by McKinney. Lets hope so. McKinney does need some major retail because we are loosing it to surrounding cities.
I still dont understand how the City can afford to let all this major retail pass our city. When the city is broke and they wonder where all the tax dollars went....check Allen and frisco. Every retail development we get, it always falls through. Mckinney seems to be the arm pit of collin county..example Craig Ranch and Bridge Street. We have low income eating establishments nothing new here but fast food. Thats why america is so over weight. I was looking at the future eating areas in craig ranch and it shows Burger King and chicken express along 121. This is insane, why would you put such low income eating near this area. Wow. Wake up McKinney before its toooooo late. |

They need a Chick-Fil-A on 121. Yes, it's also a fast food chain, but it's not fried like most other chicken restaurants.

This is part of the reason why I moved out of McKinney, I found I was always leaving McKinney to do shopping or to go eat, or really anytime I went out. There is really nothing in McKinney except for a few places to eat and shop that are generally filled with scumbags. Plus any restaraunt in McKinney is an hour wait on the weekends, pretty sad I have to go to Allen, Plano, or Frisco just to get a table. The construction on 75 is what pushed me over the edge, since now it took me a long time just to get out of town, in addition, the school district has gone to crap.
Where has the money gone? Obviously lining somebody's pockets, because it certainly hasn't been spent on the city. Whoo hoo, the city got a twin peaks restaraunt...gee thanks. The lack of public facilities for recreation is also really disturbing, especially since the school district will never let you use anything, such as their tennis courts, even though as a taxpayer, you are paying for it. For instance, just compare Allen's celebration park and Allen station, plus their Natatorium to McKinney. Nothing even compares, and McKinney's pool is only for seniors and little kids. Lastly, the most damaging is that McKinney has nearly zero business growth, it is nothing but realtors and lawyers, there really isn't a whole lot of employment to be found outside of government and real estate and it's supporting businesses, which could end up making for a rapid decline in the future. McKinney is currently putting the cart before the horse, they seem to think if they can turn the airport into a bizjet hub, then they will attract businesses to the area, which seems like a great idea, until you realize that a company who can afford a bizjet will have offices closer to the major airports and the rest of the business center since this is the importance for employee sourcing and 99% of employee travel. |

That's right. I forgot about that one. Guess I had a brain freeze. |

You are correct. Our city leaders have no idea about the business development of the city. McKinney has so much undeveloped land and future growth. I will bet you my next pay check they want to build these small retail shops containing nail salons, donut shops, and dry cleaners.
How can a city so large in land mass want such poor retail development. Its beyond me. The city better wake up and get a move on it. The excuse of economic turn down is getting old. Allen and frisco are still building large retail development. Thats where I will spend my money. Smart move guys you have done well (allen/Frisco). |

Watch a city council meeting on the local channel a few times, you will see exactly why the city is in trouble.

I have seen one. Its a bunch of red necks inside. There in no organization/leadership. The city is headed for a huge down fall. Again, examples: craig ranch, Bridge street, and the development at virginia and stone bridge. No wonder no developer wants to come here.
The city is only intrested in donut, nail, and dry cleaning...Thats it...ooo yea apartment complexes. I was told the city was suppose to get both the allen events center, mariott, and surrounding retail in allen, but the city turned it down. What the "hell" are they thinking. Something needs to be done whether it be a news investigation or something. We as citizens need to investigate this continuing problem. |

Some towns just don't seem to want development. There are smaller towns who don't want to change because of the attitude "Well it was good enough for grandpa, so it's good enough for me".
|
||||
"Towns" are made up of the people that live in them. It seems perhaps that people living here are at odds with their city's stone cold deaf management. We don’t need to be spending millions to build a commercial airport so that the airspace above our community will become noisy and more dangerous. Where will all these commercial fliers spend their dollars? In a McKinney doughnut shop or antique store? The former is filled with police cruisers and the latter sell old junk. We will gain no benefit other than perhaps even more traffic and pollution as fliers leave McKinney on their way to centers of actual business. As for the small towns you mention, those types of towns don't rape it's homeowners with ridiculously high property taxes, grandiose governmental palaces and poor service. And the town square and surrounds are not usually owned by just a few good old boy families. |

According to the mayor he wants big development. Its the old ass city council peolpe you have to get past. Mckinney has so much land and opportunity, but he council doenst want to see growth. The airport is a joke. That thing has been sitting there for many of years and has not changed. Like McKinneyLuv stated "McKinney is heading for a huge down fall!!!!

I hope the airport fails since what it really does is cause noise pollution for neighboring communities. Fairview and Allen are the ones who get all the takeoff noise, it's ridiculous. Nothing like a twin turbo prop plane buzzing over your house.
