Why do we need to control the "balancing" of nature? seems it was having a fine time policing itself before we came along....<quoted text>
Firearms aren't the only implements used for hunting. Also, hunting is a more controlled way to balance nature.
As an example, look at deer hunting.A 1:1 doe/buck ratio reduces herd populations meaning fewer deer go hungry and improves their health overall. If you think I'm wrong, check out various state records for antler sizes on deer killed during hunting seasons.Since the records are being broken yearly,it is hard to say that hunting harms deer.
the stats you are spouting off are pro hunter, gun nut stats that have absolutely no basis or effect in reality.
no one said hunting harmed deer populations ( although the killing of deer does, in fact, harm the deer being killed) and antler size is irrelevant. human encroachment of habitat can account for finding deer with larger and larger antler sizes.
I'm all for people that hunt (with whatever their chosen weapon is) to sustain their families - it's a great thing when done humanely-the commercial meat industry in this country is filthy, disgusting and atrocious.
On the other hand, using hunting as a copout to be anti-gun law or act like hunters are somehow doing the deer a favor by keeping them from overpopulating is a failed, ridiculous, delusional argument.
If you want to go kill shit - go kill it. Just don't act like there's some sort of scientific data behind you, because there's not.
