Has anyone had their street paved this year? Has anyone driven over a street that was paved this year? Didn't the city receive a $14 million gift from the sewage authority just two short years ago? Money can't be the issue.

all funding for road repair has been dispersed amoung many politicians in the port and even as far as harrisburg
kickbacks are gifts that keep on giving. lucky half of that money went for road repair. you can just about pave every road in the port for about 4 million.......we never question the integrity of our local officials.
they know exactly what they're doing

Midas and Pep boys are selling and installing a ton of shocks absorbers this year due to the poor conditions of the roads in the port

these businesses trive in towns like the port.

That was not a gift. MACM owed the city some $24 million for a the purchase of the sewage collect network.

$10 million was used to retire some bond debt that could be paid off at the time.

The remaining $14 million was used several ways. Some was used to cover the annual city million dollar deficits. The reminder is in the mayor's slush fund that could be spent without the knowledge and consent of council. No one knows how much is left and were it is.

Money handed out can be named a lot of things, grant , loan, giveaway programs , funding, gift from Santa, etc.
Whatever you want to call it, it's all tax payer money unless Warren Buffet, or Bill Gates or some other billionaire donates it, it is what it is.

Draw your own conclusions.
It's probably all legal * snickers *

I haven't seen any roads in McKeesport paved this year.

The paving schedule coincides with the mayoral election year. You will have to negotiate and maneuver the road hazards until that time.

Do you have the courage to ask the mayor at the next meeting why funds were available to buy him a luxury black unmarked SUV but not have funds to make our roads safe? Why the selfish spending of the money on a mayor's SUV when my street is a war zone?

please do not question the mayors decisions or motives.
while the milegae is piling up on that big black SUV you taxpayers are to blame that all goes wrong in McKeesport

as i attend most of the monthly meetings there are very few tax payers there to question anyone.

im sure the mayor enjoys his SUV for business and pleasure and is a stand up guy.

this method that he is using is past practice from the former mayor which is legal as long as the tax payer foots the bill for insurance, gasoline routine maintenance car washes and vacuuming the interior.

surely you cant expect him to use his own car like all other town mayors do,do you?

if one wants to act like a big shot must be treated as one.

i mean someone had to vote the guy in and who voted on this subject to purchase this SUV and who voted to let the mayor have unlimited mileage

so many questions but not one peep out of any tax payer in town

the meetings are so dull and boring these days, instead the talk of the town is all about a football coach and not about abusive spending from your leaders

where are you priorities at?

Anyone ?

Other "town" mayors aren't full time. Every other full time mayor has a city car. Not that everything is perfect, this is not an issue. And complaining about this non issue only diverts from real issues.

Are you serious? Full time for about 100 years. If you don't know what you are even talking about you really shouldn't even comment.

Is the 1970's already 100 years ago? That is when the Home Rule Charter was adopted and McKeesport went to the "Strong Mayor" form of government. Not that we've had a strong Mayor since then, but that is another issue.

Let us get this discussion back on point.

By driving over them, one may assume that many of the McKeesport roads haven't been paved in 100 years.

Perhaps that is what caused you the confusion.

Idiot, the HRC only changed the form of government and eliminated the full time councilman but kept the mayor full time. There has ALWAYS been a mayor since the city was incorporated. And those mayors AND the other council members were full time. The only difference was that the mayor was considered a part of council, however he was still called mayor. Never heard of mayors Lysle? Buchanon? Jakomas? Popovich? Elko? All pre-HRC mayors. You better do some reading.

who gives a crap about your dead city, overrun with section 8 types. No reason to go there, just drive on through. Abandoned buildings, ghetto trash, weeds, drug dealers, losers, no businesses, no industry, no reason to live there unless you are poor and on welfare.

You seem to miss the point that their is a lot of PORK in that $19 million budget to feed the puppets and their nepotism appointments.

Popovich, Kucich, Fullard, and Pribanic did not have city owned vehicles and our population was way over 18,000 during their tenures.

Mike and Jimmy controlled the puppet council and got them to approve cars for their use.

Keith Soles was part of the puppet vote every time.

plow all the abandoned houses and section 8 buildings and let nature take it back, just leave a couple of streets so that we can get to Elizabeth or Whiteoak from the South Hills. Nothing redeeming about that rat hole "city" of McKeesport

You are free to call the city a Rat Hole. That is your right and prerogative.

But, your taxes dollars paid to furnish this rat hole with some of the best additions and upgrades. We have the best furnished rat hole in the mob valley or Commonwealth.

New Palisades sign and refurbishments on the way, new pending addition to Crawford Village, Christy Park sidewalk to nowhere, improved docking at the Marina, new fireboat for our fire department, Four luxury black unmarked Tahoes for the mayor and MPD brass, lots of new demolition equipment for the PWD, one expensively refurbished elementary school in White Oak, a new elementary school at the Cornell site, a new Six Grade Academy addition at Founders Hall, refurbished Lylse Blvd surface and curbs, new Traffic lights and patterns on main roads, Walnut Street resurfaced (State Money), recently replaced 15th bridge, refurbished Boston Bridge, Refurnished Fifth Avenue, replacement of parking meters with advanced features, Mansfield Bridge more that half complete, about $60 million of new MACM constructions and many new jobs added by Cherepko, Renzie Blue Top upgraded, Senior Center upgraded and furnished with a flat screen TV paid for by the taxpayers but credited to the Senator, Lou Washowich Way Extension construction, new Dunkin Donut, new Rite Aid, new Dollar food market, refurbished mayor's office, completion of a state funded and successful flood control system on Long Run Road,

The above makes for a very well and expensively furnished "rat hole."

Also, I believe that Versailles Avenue was resurfaced.

They were considered "weak" Mayors and had very few powers over their fellow councilors.
