A guy in Idaho complained about his healthcare premiums under Obamacare. He said he shouldn't be forced to buy insurance, but is forced to buy car insurance. Too funny !
He claims he cant afford the $212.00 a month for the insurance plan that he seen on healthcare.gov , he said ,"It's a great plan with low deductibles, and choices of various doctors and hospitals when he lives.
However, he strapped for cash ,saying he has a $379.00 car payment plus his $92.00 cell phone bill a month, plus his internet and cable TV which are combined at $189.00 a month. Plus he likes to gamble at the casino near him which cost him about $350.00 a month ( he stated that's his 'entertainment money', and also likes to go on vacation every year ( not some smelly dirty beach in this country ) but out of this country to Aruba and Jamaica at approx.$4000.00 for an all inclusive week long getaway. He's single , 38 years old and likes to date and eat out frequently. He cant seem to cough up $212.00 a month though.
Did I mention he's Republican also ?

So who is a progressive? You might be one if
* You think health care is a basic human right, and that single-payer national health insurance is a worthwhile reform on our way toward creating a non-profit national health care service.
* You think that human rights ought always to trump property rights.
* You think U.S. military spending is an obscene waste of resources, and that the only freedom this spending protects is the freedom of economic elites to exploit working people all around the planet....
* You think public education should be free, not just from kindergarten through high school, but as far as a person is willing and able to go....
* You think that electoral democracy is not enough, and that democracy must also be participatory and extend to workplaces.
* You think that strengthening the rights of all workers to unionize and bargain collectively is a useful step toward full economic democracy....
* You think that a class system which forces some people to do dirty, dangerous, boring work all the time, while others get to do clean, safe, interesting work all the time, can never deliver social justice.
* You think that regulating big corporations isn't enough, and that such corporations, if they are allowed to exist at all, must either serve the common good or be put into public receivership....
* You think it's wrong to allow individuals to accumulate wealth without limits, and that the highest incomes should be capped well before they begin to threaten community and democracy.
* You think that wealth, not just income, should be taxed....
* You think that anyone who desires the reins of power that come with high political office should, by reason of that desire, be seen as unfit for the job....
* You think that national borders, while sometimes establishing territories of safety, more often establish territories of exploitation, much like gang turf....
* You think that, ideally, no one would have more wealth more than they need until everyone has at least as much as they need to live a safe, happy, decent life.
* You recognize that an economic system [capitalism] which requires continuous expansion, destroys the environment, relies on rapidly-depleting fossil fuels, exacerbates inequality, and leads to war after war is unsustainable and must be replaced.

Your list is incomplete. Many policy issues of importance to progressives go unmentioned. Others might say that the list leans too far to the left, or not far enough. It could also be said that some items are vague (what does it mean to say that human rights ought always to trump property rights?). These are all useful responses. If we hope to work together to transform the social world, we need to know what we agree on, what we don't agree on, and what needs further hashing-out.
In the end, however, it's not labels and identities and criteria for bestowing them that really matter. Political terms have consequences, but only because of how we use them. Which suggests another item for the list. You might be a progressive if you think that it's important to take seriously the meaning of political identities, but that what really matters is living out those identities in ways that help to create more peace, justice, and equality.

The so-called free market did not prevent insurance companies "from discriminating against anyone with a pre-existing condition, dropping your coverage if you get sick, billing you into bankruptcy because of an illness or injury, and limiting your annual or lifetime benefits." And of course you "ha[d] to worry about losing coverage if you're laid off or change jobs." The ACA fixes such cherry-picking of only healthy people and dumping sick folks. In fact, I just quoted http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files... ....
Moreover, 20+ million uninsured people will now get coverage. That means they can get prompt medical attention, rather than wait till they get major complications and have to run to the emergency room. Covering folks is not only more humane than neglecting them, it is more cost effective.
Similarly, some folks have junk policies -- i.e., dirt cheap, but provide very little coverage, sometimes unbeknownst to the policy holder (fraud!). That means free loading on the rest of us when they have a serious medical need. The ACA sets minimum standards for what's got to be covered. Would you prefer instead that folks can continue to free load? Emergency room visits are very expensive; talk about waste!
Likewise, expanding Medicaid will allow people to get treated promptly, and so is simply more cost effective than the status quo. As for affordability, talk to the Republican governors who are refusing Medicaid funding under the ACA, leaving 5 million uninsured folks who are just above the poverty line uncovered. More suffering -- and more emergency room visits!
The ACA does not force you to change doctors; there are a variety of commercial policies available on the exchanges.
The ACA is a big improvement -- yet it can be improved further. It sets up exchanges (i.e., makes markets transparent) within states. It is now easy to compare policies across different insurers. I got better coverage with lower premiums, starting 1/1/2014.
The unregulated market and tort reform didn't fix the above problems. I've not seen any critic on this site who has offered a serious solution if not the ACA.

Can you cite specifics of how and when Obama "pardoned Bush?"
Can you cite specifics of Bush's admission of being an "international war criminal?"
No? Of course not.
Beginning your rant with lies earns the rest of your post a courtesy flush.

Obama chose not to pursue prosecution when he was elected. He said it was an "act of good faith and good will."
Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld all admitted to torturing POWS. That's an international war crime. Bush can't even travel for fear of international arrest.
And I'm not even counting the million innocents he mass murdered or the invasion of a sovereign nation under knowingly false pretexts.

Romney:Our esteem has fallen under Obama
March 23, 2014
Says president living in a geopolitical fantasyland
Mitt Romney said Sunday that the United States international esteem has declined during President Obamas five years in the White House.
You look over the past five years and say,Whats happened? Good things have not been bursting out all over, the former Republican presidential nominee said in an interview with Bob Schieffer on CBSs Face the Nation.
Mr. Romney, who lost to Mr. Obama in 2012, said the Middle East is in turmoil while Iraq and Afghanistan are becoming less stable.
Our esteem around the world has fallen, Mr. Romney said.I cant think of a major country its hard to think of a single country that has greater respect and admiration for America today than it did five years ago when Barack Obama became president, and thats a very sad, unfortunate state of affairs.
Mr. Romney said during the 2012 campaign that Russia was the greatest threat to global security, a statement that was mocked at the time by Mr. Obama during a debate but which has proven prescient after this months Russian invasion of Crimea.

We don't need to bring Bush back for another war. Your President Obama is doing a fine job involving the US in foreign countries, killing leaders and innocent civilians.

President Obama proposes that we cut our mobile phone service in order to afford his Affordable Care Act, That's one way of funding Obamacare...LOL
How Much Obamas Travel Costs You.
With Michelle Obama in China and the President set to take a trip to Belgium on Tuesday, there has been a lot of press about their trips and their associated costs.
Some facts to consider:
With 31 trips for a total of 119 days abroad, President Obama has now traveled more than any other president, although Bush 43 and Clinton also set records before him.
Air Force One Costs over $228,000 per hour to fly.
The President sometimes travels with a 900-person, 45-car, 2 Air-Force Ones, 3-cargo plane entourage.
The 13-hour visit in South Africa for Mandelas funeral cost an estimated $11 million (including 127 hotel rooms and not including the flight).
Annual costs for supporting the White House exceed $1.4 billion.
By way of comparison, travel expenses for the royal family of Great Britain was less than $9 million in 2012 and the cost to maintain them for the year was $55 million.
Bonus: The properties owned by the royals generate north of $200 million in rent, so when you include that figure, England actually makes money on the Queen.
Even on the first ladys current non-political trip to China, theres news about excessive spending: Michelle is staying at the Westin, in an $8,400 per night suite, a hotel deemed unsuitable for Vice President Bidens trip to Beijing last year because of its nightly price tag.
So while the President proposes that we cut our mobile phone service in order to afford his Affordable Care Act, he is setting records on our collective dimes.
Thats not Conservative or Liberal, thats just a fact.
