Allegheny County officials said today that they have determined that remains found in the Ohio River on Tuesday are human.

A forensic anthropologist determined that they belonged to a man who was between the ages of 30 and 40 years old, according to a news release, but officials have not been able to identify him.

A worker at the West View Water Authority found the partial, skeletonized remains shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday along the riverbank, near some CSX train tracks, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. The remains were found about 400 yards north of Birmingham Avenue.
