2pw McKeesport police need training or honesty or both.
I believe they know better when refusing to answer question contrary to wishes to protect friends and acquaintances.
Same, I believe they knew about the illegal gambling at The Viking.
Honest officers and anyone passing through McKeesport is at risk of selective law enforcement or wrong enforcement of the law in the city of McKeesport. The solicitor is known to lie about the law. He did refuse to admit his drinking and driving. Only hospital blood test obtained by a subpoena proved John Jason Elash as over twice the legal limit. He's not honest and will never man up. You have a coward law abiding city solicitor in McKeesport.
For a sarcastic liar and commenter about Paul Shelly losing his job, John Elash sure was quiet. He refused to admit wrongdoing, remaining silent.
He said today that he had not received any notification of the charges and had no comment.
Former councilman Paul Shelly had no gun, but lost his job. Elash admits to owning money to the IRS and his now guilty plea to DUI proves he will hide from the law. He does wrong, but keeps his job in McKeesport. Elizabeth Township fired Elash. Interim mayor Regis M. Fired Elash quite publicly. Newspapers reported his firing, but Cherepko had pushed for all city meetings tabling of issues with Elash.
Elash damage to the public is a ongoing problem. He must be fired.

Yes, the city of McKeesport and now mayor Cherepko protected John Jason Elash.
Trial for McKeesport solicitor on drunk-driving charge
April 30, 2012 9:34 AM
By Moriah Balingit Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The solicitor for McKeesport will face trial on a driving under the influence charge after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing this morning.
Police said J. Jason Elash crashed his SUV into a building in the 700 block of Route 48 early Jan. 22, just hours after he left the inaugural party for McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko.
Mr. Elash suffered a head injury and was taken to UPMC Mercy. A blood test showed his blood-alcohol content was .196, more than twice the legal limit.
Mr. Elash was also cited for speeding. A charge of driving without financial responsibility was dropped today.
Mr. Elash and his attorney Anthony DeLuca declined comment as the left District Judge Eugene Riazzi's courtroom.
He will be formally arraigned June 18 at the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas at 9 a.m.
McKeesport solicitor pleads guilty to DUI
Published: Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 4:56 a.m.
McKeesport solicitor J. Jason Elash has pleaded guilty to a DUI accident from last winter.
Elash, who appeared before Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski on Monday, declined to comment on the plea outside of court.
Elash pleaded guilty to a downgraded charge of DUI and driving at an unsafe speed in relation to the accident, which occurred along Route 48 on Jan. 22, 2012. Elash faces a mandatory 30-day sentence and $750 fine in connection with the charges.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 22.
Defense attorney Anthony DeLuca said he will request home monitoring for Elash rather than jail time.
On the day of the accident, Elash was traveling in his 2004 Cadillac Escalade SUV when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a building that was about 150 feet off the roadway.
Charges were filed against Elash in February 2012 after toxicology tests revealed he had a blood-alcohol level of .196 percent, according to police. The legal limit for blood-alcohol content in the state is .08 percent.

According to a criminal complaint, Mr. Elash drove through a wooden fence and into a building about 100 feet off Long Run Road about 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2012. A McKeesport police officer arrived on the scene to find Mr. Elash being treated by medics. As the officer questioned him, he said, he could smell alcohol on Mr. Elash and overheard him tell medics that he had been drinking.
Segina said he should be fired, Cherepko didn't want to comment. Cherepko protected Elash and re-hired Elash after all his reputation destruction for the city if McKeesport.
The reports also indicate he smelled of alchohol on scene. Also, Elash admitted to the paramedics he had been drinking alchohol. The chief of police had the information, was present on scene but instead insinuated icy patches. Segina pushed for the sobriety results the police chief refused to comment about.

See for yourself
It was a failed COVER UP in McKeesport, once again. Cover ups are everywhere in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Elash never admitted he was drunk, and was content with himself. He didn't care about honesty or public transparency. These details alone prove you cannot trust anyone running McKeesport.

WOW! old news why is this guy getting paid big bucks as a solicitor? why no outrage at meetings asking for resignations, whats going on over there? do the politicians have the whole town under control isnt that called a dictatorship? why do the peole let this happen? why no one down at city hall asking for resignations? all crooks? where are all the people???? LOL!

How much of the money owed wen to drinking on the 716 Long Run Road investment?
#699 Oct 29, 2013
Why did John Jason Elash try to cover up his drunk driving? He's a coward working at McKeesport city hall.
#700 Oct 31, 2013
McKeesport is about finished.
#701 Nov 6, 2013
How's insurance rates working out for you John?
#702 Nov 6, 2013
i heard the tax payers are picking that up, better look into it. amoungst the bills this would be classified as 'micsellaneous' HA!
#703 Nov 6, 2013
Anyone see the receipts for 716 Long Run Road?

12aBrewster and Cherepko should have to write apologies for wasted government funded McKeesport projects. Brewster wasted money on a improperly graded flyover ramp. The dwindling industrial area the flyover ramp goes to is useless. Other projects money vanished never taking place. Brewster probably pocketed the money and threw the records away.
The McKeesport police pay scam isn't an ongoing investigation. It's labeled ongoing by request if John Elash to keep it from the public.
Elash should be sealed in a jail cell for wrong interpretation of law and outright lies about the law. Of course, he never kept the promises to the disabled in McKeesport dealing with the curb cuts either. He never paid his IRS bill, received a 2nd DUI and threw metal scrapping records away. He got his nose into more of gfe publics business and had the McKeesport police try to cover up the 2nd DUI claiming icy patches as reason.
Of course, the McKeesport police chief agreed and failed to explain to news why the driver wasn't searched for, but missing! Maybe Elash can admit to his wrongdoing to his former wife for once in his life. Maybe he can man up and admit wrongdoing instead if the law finding him out as a coward for a change of pace!
You have a very corrupt city that will enforce laws or not enforce laws to selection. McKeesport will manipulate the truth, lying in fact to judges until they receive a desired result. The end justifies the means is the McKeesport police and politician motto. This Respect, Dignity and Hope is all a cover up for the city favors to illegal gambling operators.

Coward paying child support or avoiding it too?
#706 Nov 6, 2013
Those records should be requested from the PA RTK website. After all, the city paid Elash legal fees and allows him to remain in the city like the Pittsburgh Omni Hotel squatter!
Nanny mayor or peeper or both is running McKeesport. McKeesport wants to defend its friend and "good neighbor" criminals.

I made mistakes. I have apologized to mayor city and council at a public meeting. I can never undo the pain I caused my wife and the love of my life, but I take care of her and my children with all that I am. I made mistakes. I'm so so sorry for them. I owe none of you faceless bullies anything. But my wife and children read this and I will never be able to apologize to them enough.

MAY 2, 2012 - City of McKeesport
Mr. McCall said the other part of his question was going to be whether a lot of this stuff ... does Mr. Malinchak have a place to lock these copies of stuff up that he is asking for. He said some of the stuff they have seen come through, he doesn’t think this information should leave City Hall.
McCall can leave city hall with Elash. The public wants that. Those two should be locked up, then McKeesport would have less to hide in the first place. Thanks Ray Malinchak and Nick Shermente. Best McKeesport employees ever, they weren't afraid to expose McKeesport cover ups. Most of McKeesport city hall is cowards with illegal use of police.
McKeesport is a cover up area of the Mon Valley. Brewster hired John Elash knowing he'd play ball.

Segina said there were private reservations about Elash's appointment as solicitor, despite a unanimous vote in January. Those reservations have increased among some council members and the public since DUI charges were filed against Elash after a single-vehicle accident on Jan. 22.
"The only thing we can do, and what we did, is negotiate the contract," Segina said. "The beginning contract only stated the retaining fee (of $1,500 per month) and $75 an hour. In the one we just passed, there was more."
(Show the public the final contract and all hours paid for by McKeesport residents.)
Of course, he could be receiving monies under the table. We expect Elash as solicitor doesn't keep adequate records. Every request to Elash yields a, "we don't have any records" by Elash.
I think McKeesport is the latest loser and joke to top any. Then you have Brewster crying for more government handouts. CDBG (Community Development Block Grant.) he's even on the MHA and Port Authority boards to direct the money after he recieves it as senator. Quite a scam. But, its all McKeesport generated.

Part of the surplus will pay off Elash IRS bill.
#711 Nov 13, 2013
Your logic to not pay the IRS is astounding. You need to see a doctor John Jason Elash. Stop running into buildings like the 716 Long Run Road building drunk driving!
Don't spend all the McKeesport $900,000 in one place John J. Elash!
