Was this owned by Mike Newman? Other than his wire tapping fiasco, wasn't he in trouble for some other things?

I think he was nailed breaking into a social club establishment in Port Vue and perhaps involved with some controlled substances that drove him to being a burglar.

The Famous fire next to he Penn McKee building was suspicious, but I do not know if there was every any connection.

Mr. Newman had it all. Good looks, wealth, councilman, businessman, and beautiful spouse. He conducted one of the most impressive and successful campaigns in the Port.

He was on his way to PA legislature or the US house of representatives. One person (political adversary) upset his apple cart when Mr. Newman over reacted to accusations that he misused public works services to clean up the entrance to his Walnut Street car wash.

In todays McKeesport environment that alleged transgression would ping a zero on a corruption scale of 0 to 10. In my opinion, psychological warfare got inside Mike's mind and he was manipulated to commit a very serious federal wrongdoing. He paid his debt to society in the cage.

IMO, he was an unfortunate victim of a psychological frame-up not too different than the failed and bungled frame up of the machine on Mr. Paul Shelly. Both were initiated by their political adversaries who were obsessed with vindictiveness, jealousy, and ruthless retaliation.

Mike like Paul was a fine person and good councilman and neighbor until he got blind sided and was knocked of the success track.

Thank you for sharing that information. Do you know if there was a McKeesport Cigarette Co owned by Mr Newman? I can only seem to find info on a McK Candy Co.

Was his "federal wrong doing" the wire tapping? Or are you referring to a rumored incident involving a "stolen" car?

Vindictiveness, jealously, and ruthless retaliation has indeed brought down many a man. As has greed and the weakening of one's otherwise solid moral frame.

An excerpt from the federal trial of USA vs. Michael Neumen and Frank X Gaca:

MR. THORNBURGH: We could consider it. These are matters within the discretion of the prosecutor's office, and I think this is just a grandstand play, your Honor, and I resent it very much. There is no basis in that scrap of paper for thinking a deal has been made with Mr. Nee.

"MR. LIVINGSTON: I think that becomes a jury question.

"MR. THORNBURGH: You're right, I said I hope we could make some more cases if this person gets rid of the idea everything is fixed in McKeesport, but the idea of-

What things fixed in McKeesport like the Cornell School sex scandal, the MPD overtime scandal, missing scrapped vehicles, heisted copper at the MACM, no books or audits for the Palisades, etc.?

March 19, 2014 9:12 PM

Two men walking along a street in McKeesport were shot tonight, police said.

The men, ages 20 and 26, were walking along Union Street near Sixth Avenue, when it appears at least one shooter, on foot, took aim at the pair at 6:11 p.m., police Capt. Tim Hanna said.

They were transported to hospitals, and their wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.

"They didn't know why they were being shot at," Capt. Hanna said.

McKeesport police are investigating.

The personal accomplishment are astonishing. They enriched themselves, operated above the law, escaped any investigations, and none were indicted except one for gambling corruption. And, liquidate city assets to balance the budget.

They have the public fooled and the fools landslide the MDC puppets in every election. And, they sold the city and MPD to the Porkster without the knowledge and consent of the taxpayers.

I would say that is quite a resume.

You make the call.

This appeal by Michael Newman challenges his June 22, 1972, sentence and judgment.1 Newman, who was at the time a City Councilman in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, had been convicted by a jury on Count I of a two-count indictment,2 which charged him with willfully procuring another person to intercept telephone conversations in violation of 18 U.S.C. Secs. 2511(1)(a) and 2.3 We affirm.

2
The evidence adduced at Newman's trial revealed that on March 3, 1970, Thomas Nee, a former Bell Telephone employee and a political associate of Newman, installed a tape recorder and activator on the telephone line of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene O'Neill. Nee, the chief Government witness, testified that Newman directed him to undertake the interceptions in order to collect politically useful information of the plans of Newman's opponents (N.T. 93-94).

3
The interceptions continued for approximately one week. Each day Nee would service the recording device by removing the tape recorder from the telephone line and later playing the contents of the tape for Newman (N.T. 108-121). The tape recorder was discovered when Nee apparently inadvertently set it on broadcast, rather than record (N.T. 124). Nee was indicted for his participation and subsequently entered a plea of guilty.
