Just finished some food delivered from IV . We used to have 15 to 20 ex city dwellers from here, West Mifflin , Elizabeth , Bethel Park & Lincoln Place meet & spend the night at the Village . We're all tired of the political BS - now we just send 2 people down to fetch grub & bring it back.
Wife & I spent about $80 dollars on food hoping to support some local church booths even tho very few are left.
My food critic review : Irish Stew , very rich & flavorful .- Spaetzle & Sauerkraut , decent.- Stuffed Grape Leaves , very good but too expensive at 65 cents per bite.- Spinach & Goat Cheese Roll , flaky , tasty, good spinach flavor but greatly lacking in goat cheese .(too expensive) But the biggest rip-off was the Lamb - spent about $30 dollars for 2 pounds , flavor & tenderness was fine - but can we get refunded for the approx. 3/4 pound of BONES we paid for ?? Or can we trade the bones in & get the equal weight back in edible meat. At least we only kicked in 2 bucks admission for the MDC to pocket instead of the $40 to $60 bucks like years ago before the hacks greed became so apparent.
Your most likely tired from being old as dirt and you shouldn't knock international village because it gives people like yourself who hasn't ever left da port act as if their a cultured person for a few nights.

Rumor has it that attendance was down significantly compared to last year.

This sets the basis for reporting significantly lest gate income. Barely enough to justify any method of gate accountability. And, barely worth reporting any gate income.

I guess you haven't been paying too close attention the past few years. If she wasn't filling in at the gates, she was assistant to the assistant something.

Actually, there was difficulty getting gate collectors this year. Last year, long-timers were verbally accosted over the $2 entrance fee, and being intimidated by the groups of youngsters who showed up later in the evening.

And a certain councilman's spouse is always an assistant to her for something. They seem to be socially inseparable which illustrates and promotes the City's "feel good" theme. This is a good omen for all.

I will not accept that groups of youngsters intimidated the gate volunteers with the well positioned MPD saturating the festival.

The police did an excellent job and the Chief Washowich and his officers were very visible and patrolled the premises. Job well done to the MPD - thanks for your presence and protecting us.

Ok. I don't mind paying the $2 fee to get in but at least have the quality of food that was there in years past. I heard that the German food was not that good. I had the Mexican and it was bland and messy. The gyros were decent but not for the price. The fish n chips were good (the fish was good the fries were ok). I heard the lamb was the same but overpriced as always.

Can we focus on quality over quantity next year. It's supposed to be a great experience not a headache. The police presence was great also. The fireworks dragged on but were really good. It was my daughters first village and I hope that as the years go on it will gradually feel like it use to.

There's always something shady going on but don't let that overshadow a good time.

But none of the above food products are over priced at $15 per pound. These prices would even embarrass the Ruth Christie price setting committee.

Personally, I like neck bones and in particular turkey neck bones and they are not %15 per pound.

Yes, that councilman's spouse - more inseparable, insider, who-you-know, buddy, shenanigans.

You don't have to accept the truth, it's still mostly a free country in McKeesport.

And I was talking about last year, when there was a situation that nearly got out of hand for the Finest.

----------Re-Broadcast-------- --Seems like others weren't so thrilled with the 'fare'.
__________

IV started out as a fun time for McKeesporters & all local people to eat, have fun & celebrate our heritages . Like everything else Mon-Valley , the politicians unable to form their own plans or ideas decided they needed to get their greedy paws into it . Like the old style 'Black Hand '. Anyhow , back to the food - no more lamb there for us, we rarely eat it & from now on, I'll simply put some on the grill or in the convection oven on rotisserie .$30 bucks can buy a nice leg of lamb or a nice prime rib. The food at the IV is fair at best - it's now for the 'hot pocket & pizza ' generation that doesn't know any better - or today's Yuppies that are simply too lazy to learn how to cook . I wish they would just list the ' Few Remaining True Church Groups ' still involved - I'd much rather send each a small donation to help, than to help fuel the local political greed & their Kickback Kronies now running food booths . Watch & See - like the Rib Fest & Allegheny Co. Fair - the greed of the Mon-Valley Democrats will kill International Village .

I was not at the international village this year. I do not like the food and gate unaccountability.

From the above postings and hearing others talk, I concluded that there is a lot of margin left for improving the quality of some foods.

Also, some complained that the prices were high and in the case of lamb (and at least an equal amount of bones) the price was exorbitant. That is one reason I stopped going years ago.

I guess that is why it is heard on the street that that attendance was significantly less this year than prior years when the senator was the chairperson.

Not just the food & nothing to do with Brother Lil Jimmy . Most of my co-workers were concerned with our reputation & the number of shootings in Renzie Park . Most live within 20 minutes or so from Renzie & let's not pretend nobody knows. I do try to push the best this boro has to offer - like Lamberts Meats - Tillies & Pizzaburg & some have frequented this businesses - but it's a tuff sale . The crime here is well known & avoided .
Can they charge

I thought that when Renzie Park was given to the city it was with the stipulation that it was to be free. The Little Tigers played at the high school because they couldn't charge spectators to come and watch the games. All softball and baseball games are free at any field in the park. Admission to IV was free for decades and then they REQUESTED a donation of canned goods and now a $2.00 CHARGE.

Chairman and Councilman Dan will not issue any reports. And, the MDC and Mayor controlled puppet council persons are afraid to demand a report.

The Controller tried to get council to approve an audit of the International Village and Palisades and except for Council President Segina not one other councilperson was interested in an audit. In fact, this effort was discussed at the last two meetings and was kept out of the local newspaper by the machine.

It is a game of hide and seek (by you the taxpayers). The International Village underground and secretive economy is alive, well and flourishing under Dan's dictatorship including providing catering services and ice cream to the village.

Hey Dan, I think that just might be a little conflict of interest!

it would be nice to know how much money was made at the iv gate

since i always see politicians pictures from mckeesport ( golfing at the yough country club )
(breaking ground for new schools )( famous politicians at iv )(palisades ) etc in the daily snooze why no amount mentioned as to how many people came to iv.??

if you had a record turnout why not advertise it?
for instance 1200 people at 2 bucks a pop =$2400.00... not a bad payday to split several ways ..and what is this money used for? pay for lights at night?, security ? why all the cloak n dagger secretcy?

C'mon Peep , you're worrying about other monies & where it's at or going. How about the openness & transparency you campaigned on ? Like BO, yourself & most of the MDC - lies flow like water where money grabbing is concerned. Especially when it's needed to cover up the impotencies of the inbred local Democratic party & their stooges .

Ignorance begets ignorance + greed. Where's the IV money go ??

entry into the IV should be free.or if you show identification 65 and older should be admitted free.

how manytimes do you bleed the senior citizens.

plus I think the booth owners themselves should pay for cleanup ,lights, electricity, etc and rental of the city owned property.I mean these scam organizations charge way too much to sell their crap and expired meat products .

the churches dont need this money your churches are the biggest money scams in history, especially the catholic churches. who pay big money for attorney fees to keep the pedophile priests out of prison
