Someone voted against this? Please state a logical reason anyone with half a brain would vote against this?

I see no reason for those food booths, whether they are church run or businessmen run to report their expenses or profits. BUT, all city controlled or IV run monies should be reported &
audited. Including the proceeds from the gates. No
one else is exempt from reporting incomes, why should they ? What I see happening is this, if they are forced to finally report proceeds, then
they will likely just stop holding IV festivities.
Like sore losers.

It's either Pink Blazer or one of the Villager gatekeepers. Same thing as half a brain.

As posted on this site more than once, there never was any council vote on IV gate accountability reported in the DN. The majority of the council would never offend one of their colleagues or political supporters that are affiliated with IV.

Some elected officials would consider it a pessimistic omen and would squirm in their skins if taken to a public vote or openly discussed. This is a forbidden topic.

Again, do not target or blame the IV workers, vendors and committee. They are great and honest persons working with the hand they are dealt by council. I thank and commend them for their civic services. Super Job!

The fact of the matter is council is the only entity that can force accountability on IV, and they refuse to act. In the interim, an unjust cloud of suspicion lingers over the city controlled financial functions. Blame an inept council for this despicable situation.

Council is spineless and negligent in executing their fiduciary responsibility of accountability to the public.

Perhaps each council person should write a letter to the DN editor defending the present accountability procedures. In particular, the four councilmen who were conscience and frugal with Mr. Shelly’s request.

It is appalling how expeditiously and definitively 4 council members can stop Mr. Shelly from asking the insurance carrier for an opinion on his situation, but are disingenuous with respect to IV gate accountability for years.

Is this a double standard or a vendetta with Mr. Shelly?
It sucks

Why doesn't council just do the right thing then?

Could one say if they are not part of the solution then THEY ARE THE PROBLEM.

The problem is at city hall - all seven of them --- not at the park and certainly not the hard and honest workers who make IV a winner.

Nice try Brewster backer. In all reality, we are a Home Rule Community that is characterized by a strong Mayor. As JB has helped 6 of the 7 councilors get elected and controls their votes, he is where the buck actually stops.

Nice try.

People aren't stupid.

Paul:

Are you implying that JB controls at least the council majority and prohibits them from solving the IV gate accountability issue?

Thus, council is not the blame and JB is?

Nice try council person, but if you introduce the motion and get no second, then the public knows that council is the blame. They are the cover up and you will not get a second. It could be because you are Paul Shelly.

Do not blame JB on this one – he is on the sidelines.

Show me where I am wrong?

Council (minus one) is afraid to make any motion without the Mayor's seal of approval. Why? Who knows. Several talk a good game in work sessions or when away from the Mayor, but when they are under the scrutiny of the public meeting, they fall into line like good little boys and girls. I could only speculate on why. It could be they have blind faith in him. It could be that they have loyalty to him for helping for getting them ALL elected. It could be that they, like most Mckeesporters, fear the wrath and retribution that would come their way for crossing him. Or, could it be that he has info on them ("powder" as I call it) that would be embarassing that he uses to keep them in line. I can't say for sure, I can only speculate. JB is the king of old school politics and as commander in chief of the city he has those who can do his bidding for him and isn't afraid to use them in such a capacity. He also knows that their are judges, who need to be retained, who won't cross the path of the MDC Chairman. He holds all the cards.

For now.

Look at my life this past year and see what happens to someone who isn't afraid and won't back down....

Why would another councilperson be crazy enough to stand up to him?

I rest my case.

I just hope the people don't rest in 2011.

The volunteer workers and everyone who makes the village happen should be commended for its success. The gates should be turnstiled and the drink booth should have a register.

22,000 city inhabits and all IV visitors agree, except the most important council majority that does not include Mr. Shelly.

In a representative democracy four vote trump over 22,000 citizens and all IV visitors.

Does anyone know if the HRC has a section on impeachment or recall? Would this not be a great town hall meeting topic? How many council persons would be no shows?

Mr. Shelly when your colleagues deny you a second to your motion for gate accountability, how about a motion for a town hall meeting at the Palisades on transparent government and accountability?

Can you get your Solicitor to address the Town Meeting to share with the citizen how and if council members can be removed for nonfeasance?

As a Republican, I must say Sluggo makes sense.
He obviously has stuck his neck out while most
others have cowered like little girls. I do punch the clock & work for a living. At work we call these people 'shanty warriors or lunchroom warriors'. They have so much to say among the guys, but soil their panties if a boss or someone of authority shows up. Try this, retreat to the restroom, while taking a leak reach down to see if there are actually balls down there. If the answer is yes & you are still are afraid to speak the truth as you see it or are afraid of the ensuing confrontation, please don't stand in front of the mirror or your family & call yourself the 'MAN' of the house. Any man I ever met would rather look for a new job than to play patsy or puppet to someone they know is wrong.

hey WL may have a point, but like him most of the council members don't punch clocks either they are retired members of the community,i do belive that if you had any balls you would go to a meeting and ask in person the question of accountialby of IV.and then you could ask any one of the councilman if they are men or mice and i would bet you that you would find out just how much man you would get up-side your head, remember these guys don't hide behind fake names on a blogg they are out there in the public eye with their decisions.sluggo needs to man up he dosen't do or say anything at these meetings and then bloggs that he did all this stuff and said all this stuff at meetings.get the council min. and check.sluggo is a mondaymorning quarterback as well as most of the people that come to this sight
the problem is not council it is the controller who is a naysayer on anything that is done.if you find min.to any meeting you will see that everytime he said a problem would happen because the city did something he was proven wrong/as is sluggo and donato /spando.groe-up

More usesless dribble. Highly unlikely any professional ass kisser will ever have the
nerve to take it to that level. They have become conditioned to wearing the kneepads & keeping the cobwebs ckeaned out from under the 'boss's desk.
We have them where I work, we tell them to wipe off your chin when we see them coming out of the office.
They say nothing & they're all the same. Gutless
