Congratulations to Jonathan Barnes and the Post Gazette for printing the story the Daily News Doesn't want voters to hear.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11272/1178277-...

Best quotes in the article:

"That's enough Mr. Malinchak."

Really? Shouldn't the Council President be interested if the city and taxpayers were potentially over charged nearly $300,000.00? If he isn't, why isn't he?

Mr. Cherepko said the investigation was a "witch hunt.... I am tired of old-school politics putting a black eye on the city," he said.

And his activities never gave the city a black eye?

"Old-school politics".... Who's mouth did we hear that out of last??? If it weren't so offensive, it would be humorous that our towns most frequent practicioners of old-school politics try to lay that title on their opposition.

Great job Jonathan Barnes for bringing this story to the people. More than a few people in town read the Thursday PG South and this will get them talking.

Perhaps Mr. Cherepko can use his investigative firm – yet to be hired – to complete the 21 incomplete transactions for the sale of city owned items?

Mr. Cherepko is not interested in investigating the trash issue because Nickolich contributed to his and the senator’s campaigns.

May be Mr. Cherepko will look into the tires that are rumored being purchased by many city employees, if the contributions from Rhome do not get in the way?

West Mifflin dumped this guy cause he was padding the bills there also. We now have a decent contractor and affordable one that wont kickback political favors, this a leftover company (Nickolich) that was hired by the late Pat Risha and the puppet board members.
The 'new' peple sniffed this clown out and a new company was called in for the hauling as of the new school year.

Who is the new contractor and I hope he bids on the McKeesport contract?

Just because Council and the Mayor permit an employee to hand deliver the monthly checks to the trash hauler should not be construed as an environment conducive to an avenue to reception of gratuities.

The fact that the trash hauler contributed to two machine candidates' campaigns is arms length from the hand delivery of monthly checks and no investgation interest by Council.

These MDC hacks & cronies never seem to have a problem with 'conflict of interest'. If money is involved , they're interested.

If we're lucky, investigations hopefully will look
at the Housing Auth., Water Auth. & most importantly, School Board contracts, job give-aways
& creations & discriminatory cover-ups.

Then we can set up a Borough Gov't. & get rid of the political phonies living off of Fed & State handouts pretending McKeesport still holds '3rd class city status'. Just to have a job & keep their hands in the 'cookie-jar'.

Trash collector Big Sanitation bags clients with gentleman’s agreement

Joe Eori’s motto for his trash hauling business is,“We send you a bill, you send us a check. That’s it.”

His Belle Vernon-based Big’s Sanitation Inc. is based on the premise that dissatisfied customers are free to go elsewhere if they so choose.

It seems simple enough, but in the garbage business, multi-year contracts can prevent customers from moving on while waste haulers reserve the right to pile on fees in the meantime.

Eori doesn’t want the commitment. He just wants clients to pay their monthly invoices.

“Why would you sign a garbage contract?” he asked.“You got phone companies that you don’t have to have a contract (with).”

That’s the way he ran his former trash hauling company before it was bought out by a large garbage corporation in 1998, and that’s the way he works the new gig, which he began with his business partner Joe Dalfonso in 2007.

“You like our service — fine,” Eori said. You don’t, and he will require nothing more than a phone call to get his trash bins off your property, slap his palms together and part ways.

Not that it’s ever happened, he said.

“People are lovin’ it,” he said.

The business has more than 400 small commercial customers and some 200 large construction dumpsters strewn over its coverage area.

Each day, the company delivers two handfuls of new trash bins, and it’s looking for that many new employees to carry the load.

Can Mike explain why his involvement in the Cornell sex scandal did give the MASD, teacher’s union, MDC, his mentor, his professional image, and his family moist and dark eyes?

The Daily News is waiting for a release from the self appointed mayor. It has to get in line behind the police overtime investigation, Delata Report, and the list of 150 new businesses.

You just got to wait on these.

I agree NO CONTRACTS!!
If you're not satisfied with his work, just say you dont need his services anymore.
How simple can that be?
He's much cheaper that Nickolich was.
Do you have to rub elbows with politicians to get a contractor
in the city to collect your garbage? The answer is NO!
West Mifflin is very pleased with this guy and you cant beat the price! He picks up all the garbage for West Mifflin borough and school district.
Give him a call
He has no political ties, he wont contribute to any politician. No kickbacks so he keeps his prices down. You cant beat that!!!

I saw in the Daily News last week that the city is accepting bids for a garbage hauler. Do you think politics will play a role is the selection process? I believe that bids should be OPENED at the Public Council Meetings rather than in someone's office out of sight. The current practice too much room for shenanigans and political favors. Perhaps the Controller will propose this at the next Council meeting. He is a champion for government transparency.
