we need answers.
why isnt our state rep getting us funds from harrisburg to fight crime instead of fighting to build more welfare housing and more crime in the future?

You are very close and accurate summarizing the woes of the Port. However, I believe the issue is with law enforcement or should I say the lack of or selective law enforcement by ALL law enforcement entities.
Law enforcement entities follow their orders for selective or non enforcements or just ignore incidents, e.g, Cornell sex scandal covered, but Mr. South and his son prosecuted, and public information reported that a MASD employee had adult oriented information on his computer but was not punished and rewarded with salary increases.
How long did the late Dr. Risha escape the grip of all law enforcement agencies? He was implicated by the Feds after his demise!
Some cases in point: Cornell school sex scandal, missing MACM copper, missing cash from MACM workers lockers, fireman's unauthorized of fire truck for transportation to magistrate's hearing, second fireman at the magistrate's hearing on city clock, non-enforcement business privilege tax for the well connected, cash missing from scrapped city vehicles, cash missing from general city scrap, MPD overtime scandal, selectively and falsely arresting Councilman Paul Shelly, police removal of controller from public council meeting, International Village gate unaccountability, city solicitor soft second DUI punishment, no action by Disciplinary Board on the DUI solicitor, solicitor campaigning on the city clock, the astonishing list of pay for plays campaign contributions to the mayor and senator by vendors and contractors, the seemingly fizzed out Commonwealth AG and Grand Jury investigation into the illegal video device raids and ensuing subpoenas, the bogus PPM contract with MASD, nepotism everywhere, etc.
The above environment attracts the criminal elements to do business in the lawlessness Port.
More money to fight crime - I doubt it. Just let our police chief and his staff do their job without unsolicited outside and inside assistance and all will improve.
IMO, the Port has to shake this aura of a Lawless Zone and become a Law Enforcement Zone. Fifty dollar parking ticket fines will not do it.
