I want to know if Holtzman started paying back the money he owes the West Mifflin school district. As of the last school board meeting, not one dime was paid back....

Maybe he is waiting on daddy to have McKeeport pay it all for him.....

Why do you care if he paid it back? Is it any of your business if he did? Why don't you worry about your own business, and stop worrying about someone elses?

I think it is ever taxpayer's business.

I think it is the WMASD dministration's business. I think it is the WMASD's auditor's business. And, it may even be IRS business because a forgiven loan must be reported as taxable income!

Where you think the tuition money came from, if not the taxpayers? A WMASD printing press?

West Mifflins loss was McKeesports gain. My youngest son is a Junior and the discipline in the high school is better than it has been in a very long time. Mr Holtzman and staff (other than the dean of do nothing ex football coach) should be congratulated for a job well done!

A loss???? Hahahahaha!! You call a district hiring a man as a "head" principal with no credentials a district's gain?!? That is EXACTLY why the high school has yet to make AYP in 6 years!!
Also...discipline is better?? That depends on who you ask. Have you asked the staff and parents??
And if you feel as though he is a good "disciplinarian" (which I think is a joke), then he should be a"behavioral specialist."
MASD is one of the few districts who would hire someone without the proper credentials and allow it to affect the entire high school education system. SMH!!!

First off, I am a parent and yes the discipline is much better under his watch. Second, you say proper credentials, who are you or I to say what the proper credentials for his job are? Sounds to me like you are one of the many who were waiting to see him fail and since it hasn't happened you are upset! How about parents taking some responsibility for their kids and not just showing up when their kid is about to get suspended, expelled,or failing out.

Actually, I am a teacher.

Second of all, PA Dept. Of Education set the standards/ requirements for "head principals.". Holtzman has NEVER taught...he pays people to write his papers. Just who I want to be in charge of studebts who are to further his education.

***Students who are to further their education.***

By the way, he IS failing as an administrator. The board set him up by even hiring him without the proper credentials....AYP scores or lack thereof, speak for themselves.:-)

The fact that many MASD teachers campaigned and supported for mayor a man who made a joke of their profession and school district with his lewd behavior in a classroom showed me all I needed to know about the intelligence and morality of teachers in MASD.

Well said. It's very sad that teachers were able to get away with their sexual shenanigans, but to have one of them elected mayor is beyond comprehension

Well said, as well. I could never imagine myself typing tose same words if I were asked to do that 30 or 40 years ago, when we had real teachers almost everywhere. The same could be used to describe our present day so-called journalists. I remember walking into the Washington Observer. I literally had chills going up and down my arms. But like teachers, journalists were in it for the 401 and decent salaries. No more. Many will retire with bloated pensions but the real teachers of the future will be computers, sad to say. And the real journalists are the bloggers, and the Internet writers who do it for the love of the story and the truth.

One more thing, the conference room of the Daily News is one of the most beautiful and statesman-like rooms I have ever been in. Sadly, it's all for show. Don't know if the rag was ever a real newspaper or not. As long as I've read the thing it has served me well as a way to practice my editing and check out the obits.

It's nice not to be young.

Very interesting. Rather than explain how a man was hired without proper credentials, the principles defenders change the topic. Perhaps it's more of pappa h's smoke and mirrors.

Ward is gone maybe Mck will get lucky and dump the other nepotism hire. If Mck gets rid of the nepotism and hires more qualified administrators the education quality will go up.

Holtzman has no honor. Why would you expect him to fulfill his obligations? He wont.

It is very easy to comprehend when you understand who his mentor was. The senator sponsored a lot of dubious elected or appointed officials with his political power and as chair of the Port Democratic Party.

• The present mayor’s well covered up involvement in the Cornell School sex matter.

• The solicitor with 2X DUI, over 25 Docket entries, scofflaw, and illegal politicking on city premises and clock which is thief of services.

• A councilman who let a federal prisoner use his phone at the county lockup

• Same councilman owes taxes on his home in the Grandview area.

• Another councilman owes taxes and was the subject of three gaming machine raids.

These are all the senator choices and his political friends. And the senator never revealed the MPD overtime scandal report issued by the DA.

Parents are a big part of the problem. Teaching and learning start at home, respect or lack there of starts at home as well. My kids have all gone to McKeesport and have had some good teachers as well as some bad ones. I had to deal with some good principals as well as some not so good ones. Given the students that he and his other administrators have to deal with on a daily basis I think Holtzman does a very good job!

Then why do you care so much about MASD? Maybe you just have a problem with the person in question! By the way, we parents of MASD are proud that you are not a teacher in our district as well!

LOL!!!!!
I CARE because I am graduated from McKeesport, have relatives who attend MASD and have friends and relatives who pay taxea to MASD. If you pay taxes to MASD, you should care just as much or more than I do!!! Smh.
I do not have a problem with the person in question, but I do have a problem with the manner in which it was done...the same way 99% of the things in the district are done...sneaky and underhanded. If you actuallu attended achool board meetings, you would know first hand that I am speaking the truth.

Btw...speak for yourself. I would actually be an asset to the district.:-)
